Fox News town hall: Trump blasts Cruz-Fiorina ticket roll-out as ‘waste of time’

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, at a Fox News-hosted town hall in Indianapolis, on Wednesday blasted rival Ted Cruz’s decision to announce a running mate even though he’s losing the nomination race – calling it a “waste of time.”

The billionaire businessman responded to Cruz’s campaign curveball, while also elaborating on a foreign policy speech he delivered earlier in the day, at the forum hosted by Greta Van Susteren.

“I think it’s really a waste of time, honestly,” Trump said of Cruz’s decision to name former presidential candidate and ex-HP CEO Carly Fiorina as his VP pick. Of the race, Trump said, “It should be over.”

Cruz earlier acknowledged it was “unusual” to name a VP choice so early, but defended the decision. He claimed “nobody is getting to 1,237 delegates,” the number needed to clinch the nomination, and voters should “know what [they] will get.”

After Trump swept five states across the Northeast on Tuesday, the three remaining GOP candidates are looking next to Indiana’s primary on May 3 as a pivotal point in the race – one that can show whether Trump turns his winning streak into irreversible momentum, or whether Cruz and John Kasich still have a shot at preventing him from clinching the nomination before July.

But Trump cast Cruz’s ticket roll-out Wednesday as a bid to distract from bad headlines, calling it “awfully early” for such an announcement.

“You have to first get the nomination. … He has zero chance,” he said.

Trump declined to go into detail about his own potential running mate choices. “I have a lot of great people. I just don’t like to talk about it right now,” he said.

“...Ted wants the presidency...”

You are a master of understatement. “Wants” = blind ambition, sense of entitlement (Daddy always told him it’s God’s will for sCruz to be President), malignant narcissism, delusions of grandeur. He will do anything, say anything, and screw anybody, to achieve the title of President.

“Cruz prays he emerges victorious.”

Often God’s answer to prayers is “no”.

There’s no way out was that small during her speech, that would have been a story itself.

As an aside, here’s what Queen Carly said about American jobs in silicon valley:

To make her point, in 2004, Fiorina said: “There is no job that is America’s God-given right anymore,” reported the San Francisco Chronicle.

He is giving the woman voter who likes neither Trump or Cruz a reason to vote. Its simple, desperate, cynical and probably won’t matter, but what is he to do if he is not dropping out?

But why do voters feel compelled to ‘make a statement’ for unelectable candidates. It must be the sympathy vote of support. There is no way that Ted can be potus, and if the RNC was fool enough to nominate him, the DNC will easily DQ him with glee!! He is ineligible and unelectable in the GE.

In NH, hundreds of folks vote for ineligible and unelectable friends for kicks. In Florida, nearly 100,000 people voted for candidates who had already dropped from the race. In Arizona, upwards of 15% voted for candidates already gone. In many states this percentage exceeds 8-12% of the vote.

Rest assured, in this case, your vote is for a candidate who will be thrown to the side on the 2nd ballot by party insiders, if it came to that.

If not, he will be DISQUALIFIED by the DNC since he does not meet the criteria to be on the ballot. There are pending bills in state houses (nearly 20 states) that can be passed very quickly by democrat majority state legislatures to not allow any non-NBC on the ballot. Those states would require their secretary of state to verify an original BC from one of the 50 states for all potus & vp candidates.

TED’s very worst LIE is that he is qualified for the office of potus. Ted seeks to dilute the requirements of Commander in Chief to satisfy his greedy LUST FOR POWER.

The reasons for the announcement are obvious. Carly's got the goods on Ted.

If I had the goods on someone then I'd think I'd use it for something more than being appointed First Officer of the Titanic. He named her because he's desperate. She accepted because she's a media hound and this gives her a few more weeks on the talk shows where she can slam Clinton and Trump.

Ted’s only shot is if Trump is assassinated.

Same for Hillary.

I hope Trump is taking his security very, very seriously. He’s exactly what this country needs, but his enemies are numerous, psychotic, and desperate.

What you said is a perfect synopsis of Ted Cruz and his career path in the last few months, and our take on his character as it was exposed.

I had high hopes. I was saddened.

His real downfall from Conservative torch bearer came when Trump was finally able to prick him hard enough to get under his skin. It took just one or two schoolyard taunting tweets or insanely offensive sound bites (comparing Dr. Carson to a child molester ... really??) to get the others off stride. But when Trump responded to a Cruz PAC posting old photos of the Mrs. by going after Heidi Cruz's looks Ted went red faced and jumped into the mud pit.

With Trump having apparently dispatched the last major obstacle to the nomination and now cruising it will be interesting to see his method, bait and stomp, used on Hillary Clinton. If anything she seems to have a thinner skin than any of the Republicans. Main difference, of course, is the media shield they lacked and on which her entire political career has always depended. Anyone besides her with the record she's got would be serving time in a Federal lockup.

i am content to let things play out - and let all voices be heard. and the process will play out despite those that want to truncate it which is kind of anti=Trump doctrine, isn’t it - ??!!

Yes, that was a gross understatement to say, .. “Ted wants the presidency...”

***Ted lusts for...

Ted demands....

Ted feels entitled...

Malignant narcissism and delusions of grandeur are at work.

My theory is that Ted caught the “potus-bug” working on the GWB campaign. He was in awe of the entire process - star struck of the power. He probably envisioned himself appearing before the multitudes when GWB entered a rally and became obsessed with burning himself a path to potus. Ted was involved with the 2000 recount process in Tallahassee. Perhaps Ted equates his current crusade with that epic battle. Since 2000, I suspect all of Ted’s actions have been well calculated to land him in the WH.

Ted probably sees himself as much more brilliant and capable than GWB. Cruz sees himself as more entitled to be potus than Bush because of his academic brilliance. This is the root of Ted’s arrogance and condescending attitude.
