Republican presidential contender Ted Cruz has tapped former technology executive Carly Fiorina as his running mate in the race for the White House.
The Texas senator plans to formally unveil his pick for vice president Wednesday afternoon in Indianapolis.
That's according to a Republican with direct knowledge of the plan, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized speak before the official announcement.
Cruz is trying to generate momentum for his struggling campaign. GOP front-runner Donald Trump swept primaries in five Northeastern states on Tuesday.
Cruz has been mathematically eliminated from winning enough delegates to clinch the Republican presidential nomination before primary voting ends.
But he's pushing to claim the nomination at a contested national convention in July.
The 61-year-old Fiorina endorsed Cruz earlier in the year after abandoning her own presidential bid. The former chief executive at Hewlett-Packard has never held elected office.

Yeah, no kidding. I think sometimes, headlines aren’t created by accident. It may be they were being wry.
His campaign is just plain strange. He picked a person to be a running mate who has no appeal to anyone.

Like he swept Texas?? Couldn’t even get 50%. Bush got 88%.
Big point everyone is missing today is that he didn’t pick Rubio, which means Rubio probably turned Ted down along with his 172 delegates. Same with Kasich. So Ted is really a bonehead. He has no chips to play at any potential contested convention. What interest would Kasich or Rubio have in releasing their delegates to Cruz just because? Ted really is not as smart as everyone makes him out to be.

No wonder Everybody Hates Ted. Just two days ago, he did the Ill-Fated Collaberation with Kasich. Now he's telling Kasich and everyone else he wouldn't even consider them as VP. How are Kasich's supporters in Indiana feeling now? Wonder if it won't bring some to vote for Trump.
Besides that, it frees all the other wannabees to consider any offers Trump might make.
Head is shaking. Cruz has got to be an affirmative-action "success story". No normal person is this arrogant and dumb.
Even Cruz supporters have to be disgusted with this!
