Ted Cruz is to make a sudden attempt to keep his presidential campaign alive by making Carly Fiorina his running mate.

He is to announce the move in Indiana this afternoon - the day after a humiliation in the five north-eastern primaries, which were all won convincingly by Donald Trump.

He promised a 'major announcement' at his afternoon rally in Indianapolis, as the candidate tries to set Indiana as the next major battleground and Trump takes a victory lap after his Tuesday night electoral romp.

Sources told Reuters it would be making Fiorina his running mate.

At this point, why even go back to the senate. ‘Best possible case’ - the guy that beat him in the primary becomes president. That guy has called him a name every time he refers to the senator...and that name hasn’t been flattering. What could have been a great asset in the senate has been defamed in front of the nation that he wanted to serve...has served for a long time.

When George Bush became president in 2000, Cruz was on the team of lawyers that stopped Gore. The Heller decision that returned gun rights to DC. He has been a voice of conservatism in the senate, sometimes a lone voice.

Now, well, why go back to the senate? I am not talking about running again, but why even go back. Just leave. Go into private practice, maybe continue his great work in front of the supreme court.

Its not his first Hail Mary Pass. Each time he has thrown them he has made it worse for himself.

Trump's opponents keep failing because they are blind to what Trump and some other's see. In the first debates I thought Cruz understood it, but he has since shown me wrong.

Hillary and the Democrats are walking straight into it and will fail hard.

At this point, I don't even want to explain it til after this happens...as it warns me below in red "Loose lips sink ships".

Seems out of touch w/ reality to announce a VP nominee before securing 1237 delegates. https://t.co/Hqx8MRyAjR pic.twitter.com/xXDa4qJ5tP— Newt Gingrich (@newtgingrich) April 27, 2016

All Trump has to do is run that videoclip of Carly slamming Ted Cruz back in March for his two-faced campaigning style and how we don’t need more politicians like him in Washington. That would make a pretty devastating ad.

If this is true this is insane. He ought to be making a drop-out speech, followed by an endorsement. I’m going to watch this because if this goes down, Carly and Ted are both out of their frickin’ minds.

He’s not the nominee. You need the bread before slapping on the baloney.

Could be, but Trump has to be relishing this.

Carly’s hoof n mouth disease is ginormous.

She’s a forceful woman, and I think she’ll overshadow Tead at events. She’s do it using all the Lefts jargon too.

Ted couldn’t have picked a better GOPe go-to shill.

I voted for Cruz in the Texas primary. But a hair-brained decision like this makes me want a do-over.

This is a bizarre move.

On the surface, this looks like Cruz is crazed. I mean, what’s next? Is he announcing his cabinet?

What I’m wondering, is there something going on behind the scenes where this guy is going to go Third Party?

At least we know who won’t be Trump’s running mate.

Neither Cruz nor Carly.

I'm open to Palin (hear that Chinese New Years fire cracker storm? That's liberals' heads exploding!).

wasn’t Cruz already sworn in by Glenn Beck? It’s a done deal.
