N.Y. Times: Trump rise 'carries a grim lesson' for Democrats
Washington Examiner ^ | 4/27/16 | Eddie Scarry

The liberal New York Times editorial board cautioned Democrats against the impulse to "gloat" about the apparent chaos taking place in the Republican primary, as Donald Trump upends the party's leadership and orthodoxy.

The paper said Tuesday night that Trump's status as the front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination should serve as a warning for Democratic "elites" who have become complacent with their support among certain demographic groups

The MSM and the Democrats are scared to death of Trump.

The NYT warns the Democrats about Trump.

Trump has truly framed the narrative of this election. He has made it about patriotism, the American people and making America great again.

The Democrats want to make it about political correctness.

Be afraid Democrats. Be very afraid.

In other words, Trump is going to raid the plantations and bodegas and sweatshops and inspire people who are feeling pretty hopeless after years of being cultivated only for votes

The subtext of the Times editorial was pretty clear: don't assume that the Sanders voters will come over to She Who Must Not Be Named. It's too late for that consideration, way too late, and no one the Dems have available for a VP slot including Bernie himself is going to make up for that.

While that’s probably happening on some level, that’s not my takeaway from this article. It seems to be about Trump leading a rank and file revolt against GOP leaders, warning Dem leaders that the same could happen to them.

I think the article overblows the situation for the Dems. The Dems have been traditionally much better than the GOP at identifying possible rebellious elements, targeting and infiltrating them and buying off/otherwise co-opting the leadership elements, while whipping rebellious rank and file into obedience

The way the whole Netroots movement was pulled into the Dem fold is a case study in how the Dems operate. Occupy was AstroTurf, as I’m convinced BLM is as well.

That is right. That is what is so scary. They don’t see themselves as public servants - the see themselves as royalty to whom the pathetic human scum owe their allegiance and money. The cannot simply be beaten, they must be obliterated.

“It seems to be about Trump leading a rank and file revolt against GOP leaders, warning Dem leaders that the same could happen to them.”

Trump has framed the narrative of the election and he is the one that the Republicans chose over the far better funded party insiders.

The Democrats realize that Democrat voters are even more disgusted with party leaders than the Republicans. The turnout in Democrat primaries is down. There is no enthusiasm for Hillary Clinton or other party insiders.

The Democrats are afraid. As well they should be.

Trumps way is to teach them to catch fish, not wait in line for fish to be given to them

Given the choice....

No problem with that.

None of us can quite remember what it means and feels like to win anymore.

We are still a country that loses.

The only taste we have of winning is Trump numbers, and that isn’t quite as satisfying as it will be when we can say President Trump.

You give human nature more credit than experience suggests. Given the choice many humans will opt to rely on others to meet their needs. Free sh!t is the creed of a large segment of most cultures.
