Donald Trump Shatters His Ceiling (Trump On Way To Nomination)
Slate ^ | 04/26/2016 | Jim Newell

Posted on 04/26/2016 10:50:12 PM PDT by goldstategop

There wasn’t any mystery about how Tuesday night’s five Republican presidential primaries would end up: in Donald Trump’s win column. The only thing to watch were his margins: Could he close out against John Kasich in certain highly educated, suburban congressional districts in Connecticut and Maryland, and could he break a 50 percent statewide winner-take-all threshold in Connecticut?

Yes, he could! He could do all of that, and he did. He won every state by double digits and cruised in every congressional district awarding bound delegates. He made a joke of his competition and the #NeverTrump cause, just as he did last week in New York, and there he was again Tuesday night, addressing supporters in Trump Tower with that same shrugging, blustery triumphalism. Sure, the Northeast is his smoggy backyard, and he won’t see it again until the New Jersey primary in June. But as he wraps up this friendly swing, he showed his close observers that he could do something he hadn’t been able to do much of yet: outperform predictions. If that’s a new trend that he can carry over to Indiana and California, then he’s the nominee.

Trump surged to 9.9 million votes, according to totals that include Tuesdayâs preliminary results across the northeast and could rise further as the final votes are counted. Thatâs already more than 100,000 more than Romney earned in the entire 2012 primary season and tens of thousands more than John McCain earned in 2008.

Yeah, sure, your dog supports Trump. But he doesn’t vote! (Or does he? Hmm.)

Cruz and his Cruzerettes keep talking about CA, OR and WA, but aren’t those very liberal democrat states that no republican has won in decades, and where no republican even bothers to campaign during the general?

Trump will win Indiana handily, then West Virginia, Nebraska, Oregon and Washington. Then on June 7th, he’ll take CA, NM, SD, MT and NJ.

Your boy is just attempting to play spoiler for the establishment (and doing a poor job of that).

...will no longer have anyone promising them absolution of their debts incurred because someone convinced them that they needed a degree in anything to get a job.

Yes, kids have been brainwashed about college. Look how many got a degree and then had to compete against hundreds of recent graduates seeking the same job? Also, this (absolution of debts) is the attitude I recently discovered from a nephew who wants Hillary to win so that the mean Republicans (Trump) won't take this away. I tried telling him that he needs to see the whole picture: what's best for the country instead of one small part. I also said, "why should one's student loan be forgiven when college is a choice?" Besides, high cost of a college education should be dealt at the college level and not "our" problem.

“I heard the uniparty now has plans to wheel out Boehner as a possible nominee”

They cannot be that stupid. Who do they think will vote for him or is the object just to lose the race?

Doctor DNA,

Put a brick wall at the end of that arrow.

Label the wall “Trump”.

“Why are dems that motivated to vote, and will it carry over in the general?”

I’m in PA, in the Philly burbs. I’ve lost count of the Bernie bumper stickers and yard signs present. I’ve see one, yes, exactly one, Hillary bumper sticker.

I believe there is a strong anti-Hillary and gimme-dat base in PA. Hopefully the anti-Hillary dems stay home when Bernie is denied the nomination. And Hillary isn’t quite as big on the freebie rhetoric as Obama was.

Personally, I’m not worried about PA. There’s not a cool black guy to vote for this time. The cool white geriatric won’t win the nomination, and a grizzled, hacking, cankled shrew is not gonna motivate the voters.

Tonight's Trump primary wins were shattering...

So was the presser!

You could just taste the frustration of the press at not being able to complete their commentary-questions (questiontary?) before Trump would stomp all over their premises!

Thanks for the reply. I’m in Virginia, and was feeling pretty good about Va going Trump’s way in the election.
Then our sorry governor McAweful gave Felons the right to vote. For most elections in Va the last few years, our state is evenly split, with a slight favorite to Dems because of government workers. Just a few Thousands can swing Va one way or the other.

I’ve seen about the same hill/sanders bumper stickers. But if you take a ride in the country, folks have Trump painted everywhere.

Pay no attention to any of this! It all depends on what happens in Indiana! .... or so Rush assured us today.

Rush is so wrong. How could he spend more than decades as a professional conservative, witness 1980, 1984, 1994, and 2012, and completely misread the mood of his audience, even the country ?

” I do have a serious concern that I hope folks here can explain. PA is considered one of the states that we have to win in the General to win the election. “

Independents can’t vote in PA primaries. And Trump does have a path without PA, winning NV and one other state like IA or NH.

But in the general my guess is some Bernie voters will go Trump as well as a whole lot of Independents.

Cruzi is finished and besides, Trump can take the fight to Hillary. Cruz cannot and that is a fact.

One of the BIGGEST areas that need attention: college students

bigger concern; white college educated professionals, living in suburbia, who are the most involved demographic, at 77% participation in 2012, and went 56% for Mitt Romney...

erosion of either of the above metrics spells doom for the Pubs, as the white non college demographic has proven to not participate in sufficient numbers to compensate...

PA is considered one of the states that we have to win in the General to win the election.

sorry, but another path to the WH must be found...PA has gone Dem 6 cycles in a row, and that won’t change anytime soon, regardless of the candidate...

better to try and swing Fl, OH, and VA...Trump might do it; Cruz might swing FL, but nothing else...

Cruz people, Trump people, it's time to stop the arguing, fighting and nastiness and unite behind Donald.

Cruz is done.

I know how hurt and angry some of you must be, but we MUST unite, get behind the Republican nominee and all get out and VOTE.

Those who were so angry that their candidate did not win the nomination that they stayed home, voted third party or did a 'write in' are partly responsible for the muslim being elected a second time.

We CANNOT let this happen again. We MUST get a Republican back in the White House. We MUST. As corrupt as the party is, it is better than the rat party. The witch, Hillary, will continue on with Obama's policies and finish destroying us. The first thing she will do is take our guns.

Trump is a good man.

He is an AMERICAN who loves his country

He is owned by no one.

He has heard the voice of We The People and has stepped in to fight for us.

He is a brilliant businessman/CEO who CAN run this country AND GET THINGS DONE!

It's true; he was once a rat- but so was Reagan. Everyone has a right to change their minds. We should not hold this against him

The most important thing right now is to stop the flood of criminal invaders across our border and stop the thousands and thousands of 'immigrants' (Muslim colonists/ jihadists) that Obama has flown in and distributed all across America in hopes of America being eventually under the rule of islam.

Texas alone has been the victim of almost 600,000 crimes by these criminal invaders. (Where are you, Gregg Abbott ?! Why haven't you done something about Obama's giving orders for the border guards to stand down and not interfere with the flood of criminals over our Texas border?)

Donald WILL build the wall. He will surely run into lawsuits by rats, many roadblocks and delays- but in the meantime, he WILL stop the flood of criminals by putting enough guards on our borders.

He WILL secure our border.

Our border guards believe in him.

He is the only presidential candidate EVER endorsed by them.

He will vet/investigate/deport the many dangerous muslims Obama has imported and distributed across America against our will- colonists/jihadists that he hopes will overthrow our government and claim this land for Islam, just as the Koran commands.

Donald will put a stop to this.

Donald is the ONLY one who has proposed cutting aid to foreign countries and making them pay for our protection as a way to help reduce the 20 trillion dollar debt Obama has run up

He WILL make America great- and respected again.

Count on it.
.
