Sen. Durbin: Police ‘Holding Back’ Afraid To Lose Job Over ‘Mistake’

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), who wrote a letter asking the Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate Chicago Police policies in December, recently said the windy city’s law enforcement is “holding back.”

In coverage of the 44 people killed or injured in last weekend’s shootings in Chicago, WGN-TV reports:

U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin feels the spike in shootings could be related in part to low officer morale, as the Department of Justice investigates the police department.

“I think they’re holding back now in fear of video cameras, DNA, and losing a job over a mistake they might make,” Durbin said.

Enforcing the law is racist, Dick.

You mean like the DoJ is ‘holding back’ in its prosecution of Hillary on ServerGate, or the de facto (and self-admitted) violation of the Public Records Act of 1950 making her ineligible to hold public office? You mean that kind of “holding back”, Dick?

“I think they’re holding back now in fear of video cameras, DNA, and losing a job over a mistake they might make,” Durbin said.”

And who created the environment in which that fear was sown, Dick?

Well, it is good that our public servants are a little "afraid" and thus exercise "caution" and "restraint" in performing their duties.

Of course, our police should not be so afraid of losing their jobs or of civil prosecution that they cower in the corner rather than apprehend criminals.

Regards,

Try Memphis. They bought body cameras for the cops but the DA's office won't allow them to wear them in fear of the costs of people suing the city for wrongful conduct.

The DA's office claims an entire agency would have to be created to download video, review and transcribe it, redact what the unions and the city deems "too sensitive for public release", and then administer / archive the data files.

A shirt pocket pen which records video and audio costs $150 on-line. I don't leave home without it.

Losing their jobs, Dick? I’m sure they’re more fearful of the prison terms Obama and your party wants to give them.

If Rahm put a bounty on the head of Little Dick Durbin, I’m pretty sure there would be plenty of energy amongst Cook County’s finest.

The left wants the latter scenario, so as to make it easier to federalize all police and utterly remove all accountability.

Chicago looking a lot like the Detroit from Robocop.

And Baltimore. Only because the Police aren't taking too many chances with their jobs.
