Keeping 2.2 million Americans in prison is hurting the economy, President Obama said Saturday in his weekly address, describing a report that outlines those arguments.
The move is part of a federal effort to rally support for an effort by the Obama Administration to reduce the number of people in prison and to help them once they are released. The administration will announce the steps next week during what has been dubbed “National Reentry Week,” from April 24-28.
“This isn’t just about what makes economic and practical sense. It’s about making sure that we live up to our ideals as a nation,” Obama said.
Among the new programs being rolled out, the Obama administration said one will include a plan to help individuals with criminal records compete for federal jobs. The White House said it will also double down on its call for businesses to show favor to the 600,000 people released from prison every year.
"Now, plenty of people should be behind bars. But the reason we have so many more people in prison than any other developed country is not because we have more criminals. It's because we have criminal justice policies, including unfair sentencing laws, that need to be reformed," Obama said.

Lawyers would have a lot more work
Of course the crimes they commit will help the economy.
Your car or truck that they steal, strip, and destroy will have to be replaced you know.
Your electronics and appliances that they steal will have to be replaced.
Your home that they commit arson upon during the riots will have to be rebuilt.
All the businesses in your neighborhood will have to replace the stolen stock after the riots, not to mention the building repair/replacement.
The hospital doctors and staff will have to be paid to save and patch up all the injured after the robberies, muggings, rapes, home invasions, hit and runs and other gentle acts of civil disobedience that these citizens will commit.
Your wives and children will have to be buried after the rapes, robberies, and murders that will be committed upon them, and you will have to pay the emergency rooms and undertakers.
You just have to learn how to think like a Democrat, plus look at all the votes they will get in the next election.

It found that 67.8 percent of them were re-arrested within three years of their release and 76.6 percent were re-arrested within five years. Of the latter group, more than a third were re-arrested in the first six months after leaving prison, and more than half were arrested by the end of the first year, showing that the rate of recidivism was highest during the first year and declined every year after that.

Actually, it’s typical democrat behavior and one that i fully expected. But they’re going to need a lot more than 2.2 million new voters for Hillary to beat Trump. I suppose every little bit helps.
Between that and all the illegals they can get over the border and provide with voting rights between now and November, they may just do some damage.

I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW Obama, we could let the 2.2 million out of prison, and continue to pay them the money it costs to keep them in prison, and they will donate their time doing works of goodness because they will be free from the slavery of their masters.
