What started as a would-be arrest at a Kansas motel ended with three federal agents shot and the motel engulfed in flames.
Officers from the U.S. Marshals Service's Fugitive Task Force went to the motel in Topeka on Saturday night to look for Orlando J. Collins, the FBI's Kansas City office said. Collins, 28, was wanted on two robbery-related charges.
But as officers reached the motel room door, "they came under gun fire from inside the hotel room," the FBI said in a statement.
Two deputy U.S. marshals and an FBI agent were shot but are expected to survive, the FBI said.
Previously, Topeka police said a fourth federal agent had been injured in the melee. That officer apparently suffered a leg injury but was not shot, the FBI said.

Concur. I travel a lot and many of the second tier hotels are run by Indians. They have all been extremely friendly to me. Additionally, the father of a boy who played sports with my son is a Patel, who owns two hotels. He is extremely friendly, gracious and hard working. He is Hindu.
He did say it took him a very long time to stop thinking in terms of castes, but that America would give a penniless import (like himself) the opportunity to become successful and come into contact with many helpful Christians, made it impossible to continue to believe in castes.

Yes. I’m not an expert on the subject, but I have the impression that the Indians have very actively sought out secondary, non-metro and emerging markets. The hotel off the interstate in a rural area is the classic example. They’re not battling the big name brands in destination cities for the fancy downtown convention hotel business. They tend to be serving travellers and families with kids out on the highways. It’s the old story of an immigrant community identifying a niche, providing guidance and mutual support, and hustling its way to success. It’s rather like that other vast, dastardly Asian conspiracy, all the Korean dry cleaners in urban neighborhoods. Or the Jewish delis of a bygone generation.
Never said anything about muslims...I have worked for Indian motel owners and am well aware of the “Patels”...The name means keeper of the house ...it was given during British rule with each sect/profession being recognizeable by names. and believe you me they run some serious dives....

I have worked for MANY Patels....from Conn. to Massachusetts...even Florida...no beef from me ...I was suggesting that there is a large possibilty it is owned by the Patel clan...very reasonable assumption.
