340,000 (now 422,144) Pledge to Boycott Target over Transgender Bathroom Policy

More than 340,000 have signed a pledge to stop shopping at Target, in response to the corporation’s announcement this week that transgender employees and customers will be allowed to use the bathroom that corresponds with their gender identity.

“This means a man can simply say he ‘feels like a woman today’ and enter the women's restroom... even if young girls or women are already in there,” stated the American Family Association, which started the petition.

Target on Tuesday became the first giant retailer to weigh in on an issue at the center of a heated national debate.

The announcement came just after North Carolina passed a law requiring people to use bathrooms in public facilities that correspond with their gender at birth.

“#BoycottTarget has resonated with Americans,” wrote AFA president Tim Wildmon.

Wonder if the suits in the CEO suite ran this idea by legal before their pious declaration of inclusivity (except for, of course, normal people).

After a paedophile in a dress has his way with a 6-year old girl in the women’s room, Target may find their corporate wallet lighter by several million.

Not to mention the PR nightmare that will ensue.

I bet they thought they had trouble with the credit card security breach.

They haven’t seen anything yet.

I don’t care.

This is a problem between women, so (a) it doesn’t affect me, and (b) I can’t do anything about it.

So it goes in the “meh” hole.

This is not a question of bathrooms. If someone dressed as the wrong sex, entered a bathroom and went to a stall in most cases no one would notice. But the push to make these policies public is an attempt to force everyone to accept the idea that there is no real sex, only a “gender” that one chooses for oneself. And Heaven help those who will not go along with the new orthodoxy. See Curt Schilling.

It's "an attempt," but it won't work, at least where I'm concerned.

It's just The Emperor's New Clothes," 2016 version.

A phenomenon that exists because (a) the internet and other low-barrier-to-entry mass media, and (b) a lot of useless people with meaningless lives who have too much time on their hands.

I cannot boycott Target. I never go there anyway as they have a history of liberal management. I cannot boycott PayPal either as I don’t use the service, I can’t boycott all the entertainers staying away from NC as I wouldn’t go to see them anyway - don’t recognize most of their names either. Oh whoa as me - who can I boycott??? Such a problem!!

These laws also include locker rooms where women are in various stages of undress. My wife takes exercises almost everyday and uses the locker room. She uses the stall to clothe, but she says most women dress in front of their locker. Some, like she, are very private, and a male with a penis package to flaunt would cause all kinds of psychological disorders.

Steely, you can't (or you don't want to) see the forest for the trees.

Petrosius hit it on the head in his post # 7.

I really hope you're not as confused about what bathrooms to use as you are about the concept and purposes of boycotting (which liberals have employed with great success from the days of Rev. MLK to date).

Steely, you can't (or you don't want to) see the forest for the trees.

Because I don't want to enter into a fight between (a) liberal women, and (b) women in general, most of whom are liberals?

Sorry. I don't care about the forest, or the trees, in this one. It's all symbolism and posturing as far as I'm concerned.

excellent- What we need though is for hte Tea Party to organize their supporters to boycott them as well- the Tea Party could have a tremendous effect on this issue IF they actually organized better on issues like this—

I used to work there in high school a million years ago.

I’ve been boycotting for years because wearing red shirts and kakis is a crime against humanity all by itself.
