Trump's Best Move: Kasich for VP
RollCall.com ^ | 04/21/2016 | Jonathan Allen

John Kasich has enough delegates that he can probably put Donald Trump over the top if Trump doesn't win the Republican presidential nomination on the first ballot at the party's convention in Cleveland this summer.

That's reason enough for Trump to put the Ohio governor on his ticket. In fact, he would do well to magnanimously throw the vice presidential nomination open to the convention with the knowledge that his own delegates would secure the spot for Kasich.

But pure palace intrigue is the least of the reasons that the GOP front-runner should run with Kasich. The governor comes from a swing state that Republicans must win to take the presidency, he has crossover appeal with Democrats who watched the Republican debates and mistakenly thought he won every one, he's got both executive and legislative experience and, most important, his selection would signal to both the establishment wing of the GOP and the general electorate that Trump is serious about governing.

I think he would give the democrats who want to swing but can't stomach Trump - too much cognitive dissonance - an internal path to say 'well, kasich is a gentle sensible man and he will calm the stormy crazy Mr. Trump.'

My only question would be ... Does Kasich bring any kind of poison ... other than being a crony.

Hmmmmmm ... it would virtually guarantee Trump the win ... that is, if it's not already guaranteed. Does have a price though ... Definitely better than Admiral Stockdale.

How could Kasich be good pick? Kasich is an amnesty pimp Cheap Labor Express poster boy. Donald loses the election if he picks Kasich. Totally wrong pick, totally stupid pick. Clearly people haven't been paying attention if they thing this will work. NO WAY.

How can Trump campaign on building a wall and deporting/enforcing immigration laws with an albatross like Kasich tied around his neck? Simply put is he can't.

Hate to say it, cause Kasich is a rino putz, but he’d guarantee a win in OH and probably PA...Trump wins.

When was the last time a VP got to be President? Don’t worry about it. I am sure Kasich is on the short list. Sounds like maybe Rubio and walker also.

So, if I’m not a Trump, I’m a Clinton supporter. Pathetic.

R U f-ing kidding? You are clearly out of touch. Kasich is an amnesty whore. He sends out the opposite message that Trumps sends. Total mismatch.

“Kasich is a worse choice for Trump than GHW Bush was for Reagan.”

Yes, the only potential side benefit would be that unlike GHWB, K-sick probably doesn’t have a low IQ son to follow in his “footsteps!”

Kasich would be a REALLY tough pill to swallow, I could handle Rubio or Walker but I could NOT stomach Kasich the son of a mailman or milkman whatever he’s the son !!!!

Katich cannot even win a state outside of Ohio among republicans. He would lose in a landslide to any ‘rat.

Wasn't there a post just today saying it was imperative to beat Hillary, AND the GOP establishment ? By the founder himself ? All Trump supporters agreed.
This guarantees it.
Trump / Schumer 2016 !
Accomplishes everything most Trump supporters want.
And Trump himself two weeks a grocery clearly stated he wanted his VP to be an experienced in Congress of around 25 years politician who c a n cut Dr a law and get things done in both houses.
That is describing Schumer to a T.
He had the whole gang of Eight deal on immigration wrapped up until that Lyon Ted lowlife did all he could with the GOPe part of the house.
Schumer has a long record of cutting deals in the Senate. He c a n certainly reach across the aisle to the Democrats.
It makes perfect sense
Trump / Schumer 2016 !
That ticket wins.

It might make political sense but Trump has a way of shredding political dogma and still being successful.

I think he should go with Carson for the block. After the way reince and the gang treated him, he could call them out on racism if they try to steal it. Besides, Ben is a good Christian man with a calm demeanor and he would balance him out.

I agree. Kasich’s positions mirror Obama’s.
