Trump says he's 'not toning it down,' drawing Clinton barbs

WATERBURY, Conn. — A confident Donald Trump told supporters Saturday that he's "not toning it down," a day after his chief adviser assured Republican officials the GOP front-runner will show more restraint on the campaign trail.

"I'm not toning it down," Trump told a cheering crowd of 3,000 people, packed into a high school gymnasium in Waterbury, Connecticut. "Isn't it nice that I'm not one of these teleprompter guys?"

Trump's new chief adviser Paul Manafort met Friday with top Republican officials and told them his candidate, known for over-the-top persona and brashness, has been "projecting an image."

"The part that he's been playing is now evolving," Manafort said.

Don’t worry about it.

One style for the rallies, another for the boardroom and policy speeches. Tune in Wed. night and see. Most everyone adopts a style appropriate to the occasion, but thanks for your concern.

Manafort has tweaked Trump’s campaign and not a makeover.

I recently attended a government technical conference that was very poorly led. At the end, they put together an “outbrief” which consisted of a few PowerPoint slides that could be presented to senior leadership.

The slides were carefully worded so as to be utterly inoffensive and bland. They said nothing. The goal was to make no commitments (who wants to be on the hook for future work??) and to avoid stating an errors (who wants to be wrong about anything??).

Leadership attended the outbrief and loved it. These are people who control a billion dollar budget. The loved it and they praised the conference organizer for doing such a great, great job and for making so much incredible progress.

OMG. Who thinks this is good?? This is just people pretending to do work.

Government inaction and political correctness will haunt us so long as no major politician wants to avoid giving offense or taking a stand.

One of the things I love about Trump is that he doesn’t tone it down and he’s not afraid to speak bluntly. We need someone who offends people and points the finger at the problems.

Manatee is the nice fella who compared conservative grass roots Tea-Party folks and our allies to the GESTAPO.

And I didn't even get a cool hat.

That was before Donald went all PERVERT on us.

And tossed his flat tax aside to tax the rich more.

How Bernie of him.

Are we ready to do the 3rd party now?

YES.

Jedi.

Regarding your tagline that the "ground game is there" for Cruz/Rubio...where exactly is it? We know it's not in the Deep South as Cruz and Rubio were soundly defeated there. We know it's not in the Northeast as they got clobbered there as well.

Maybe the ground game is still in Wisconsin. You guys better go find it.

Yeah, a 3rd party run will definitely have a chance. /sarc

Do you actually want a President Hillary? Nominating SCOTUS justices? Crapping all over the 2nd Amendment? Trump isn't ideal. We all knew that going in. But he's a million times better than Hillary. Get your head out of your butthole.

His Campaign guy.

Yankukavych’s campaign guy.

Is that more like a “friend of ours” thing or a “friend of mine” thing?

Zombieland Rule #1: Cardio.

Guess you won’t be low crawling very far carrying those big flappy lips.

What did Manafort have to say about the Tea Party again?

Let’s see:

Gestapo HOW, exactly?

We both know that Trump has not lost his control. I n his whole life he has never had to listen to what anyone told him.

Manafort is smart enough to have a real nice separation package in his contract.

Manafort meet Corey, under the bus!

Consultants first and foremost know who they need to please.

A consultant that “speaks truth and fact” anyway, usually does not get future opportunities.

I went against the status quo with a few leaders who were seriously, seriously putting a multi-million dollar company asset at risk. Every single day.

In the end, I could change nothing. Hopeless as it was, I left because there wasn’t even a short-term there.

Any network administrator, of which I am not, would be horrified at what I found.

"Are we ready to do the 3rd party now?"

Go Noob Go!

But before the door hits you in the ass, I will wager you cannot even name the last 3rd-party candidate to win the presidency...
