I'm sure he is. Probably doesn't have any actionable intelligence on the shooter, so he's not just "shooting from the hip" by giving daily press conferences speculating about things he has no actual evidence or knowledge of.

I wasn't impugning your sheriff, just lampooning the miserable, negligent way that the press and local police handled the Beltway snipers situation back in '02. I should have used the "sarc" tag.

That makes sense. Just saw there’s an eighth person dead. What seems strange is while they say there’s no active shooter on the loose, they don’t say whether the gunman is dead or in custody.

Given the rural nature of the area, and with all the killings being in one family, I'd say you almost certainly right.
