CHRISTMAS in New York was lovely this year — especially for those who prefer to spend the day working on their tans. It was the city’s warmest ever, with temperatures peaking at 66 degrees.
Record-breaking temperatures are occurring with alarming frequency in the United States, but Americans are reacting with a collective shrug. In a poll taken in January, after the country’s warmest December on record, the Pew Research Center found that climate change ranked close to last on a list of the public’s policy priorities. Why?
In a paper published on Wednesday in the journal Nature, we provide one possible explanation: For a vast majority of Americans, the weather is simply becoming more pleasant. Over the past four decades, winter temperatures have risen substantially throughout the United States, but summers have not become markedly more uncomfortable.
Of course, people’s preferences about weather vary widely. Some want a snowfall every winter, while others would rather wear sandals year-round. So we sought to develop a measure of the average American’s weather preferences. To do this, we made use of research by economists who study local population growth in the United States. They have found that Americans have been moving to places with warm winters and cool, less humid summers. We made the inference (not true in every case, but reasonable to assume in general) that Americans prefer such conditions.
Then we evaluated the changes in weather conditions that Americans have experienced over the past four decades (i.e., roughly since climate change emerged as an issue in the public sphere). Climatologists customarily report weather changes averaged over the land surface — an approach that counts changes in sparse Montana just as heavily as shifts in populous California.

More acres would be available for crops and housing in places currently too cold for habitation.

Speaking as a Canadian, the “milding” of the climate in Western and Northern Canada is bloody welcome.
Unfortunately, the paleo-climatological record, such as it is, indicates that we are near the end of an inter-glacial breather within an ongoing Ice Age.

Global warming is the same thing as “climate change.” So global cooling is also climate change. Global warming is the same as global cooling.
That does not make sense. Where did we go wrong?
Global warming is NOT climate change. It is an example of climate change, as is almost everything. The climate has always changed. So climate change theory predicts just about everything, or nothing in particular. It doesn’t even rate as a theory.
Global warming is a theory, but it seems the left has deemed it untenable.
It looked like they were starting to get reasonable, by asking the question about what kind of weather or climate is good and what kind is bad.

But thank goodness february was 0.03 degrees warmer this year, and the average temp was 35.03 instead of 35 degrees- otherwise I might have froze to death
So-called "Global Warming" is a fraud and joke. I've seen these weather cycles occur over the last six decades, and as you say some years are very cold and other years are very hot. This winter we saw lots of rain in California, brought our reservoirs back to near normal. Same thing happened in the sixties, seventies, eightees and nineties. Drought conditions for a few years, panic, then lots of rain and floods. Then the cycle repeats. It is no warmer now than it was in the 1960s. I remember that after a warm spell in the early 1960s, we got snow in San Francisco. Cold weather. Then it got hot in the late 1960s. Then snow again in early 1970s in San Francisco. Then it got hot again with a drought, then lots of rain and flooding in the early 1980s. Weather cycles happen, and man has nothing to do with it!

There are other far more critical factors to consider that are proven influences on climate. We're one volcano away from global starvation if it's bad enough. That doesn't allow activists to control our lives, however, and so is disregarded.
Besides, you cannot trust the temp gathering stations. The Socialists that promote the Climate Change Vomit have altered the stations and got rid of the ones that consistently show colder temperatures.

Science itself shows that man-made global warming is nonsense. For instance, CO2 follows warming, it doesn't cause it.
When you have little self-appointed dictators like Sheldon “il Duce” Whitehouse trying to gag common sense and reality by stealing our Right of Free Speech in order to make the Climate Change Lie seem like it might be real, then you have a MUCH bigger problem than if AGW was actually a threat.
Accuweather shows that forecast for the high for Christmas Day will be 40 with a low of 29 in New York City on 12-25-16.
