As a big fan of music of the 1980s, this is a shame. I really thought he'd make a come-back any day.

I totally understood why he called himself the “Artist formerly known as Prince” was because the recording label had it copyrighted, and poor Prince Nelson couldn't even use his own name to bill himself when he sang/played. So the “Formerly Known As Prince” name was a way to legally tell the studio to go blank themselves.

Clever, actually!

The fight over his estate is going to be interesting. I think there is no known wife or children. I hope he had his estate locked up air tight for whatever he wanted.

Huh, I didn’t know that. “Drugs, sex and Rachmaninoff” just doesn’t have the same ring to it.....

This event has taken the Trump & Bathroomgate off the headlines. Every network from CNN, to FOX, to MSNBC, to Fox Business, is carrying “Prince” instead. What the media meant for evil to dislodge Trump for Super Tuesday has been superceded by a famous guy’s death. God surely works in mysterious ways.

I hit 63 in a few weeks. Yeah me too.

Best wishes to you. I'll celebrate mine with my 3rd annual Birthday Hike, about 16 miles. Last year's was full of detours, thanks to the 100 year flood we had in Texas.

I trudged through the first flooded area, about 1/4 mile long. Halfway through, I remembered that water moccasins thrived in the area, oops.

At my pace, it takes about 4 1/2 hours.

Rachmaninov, no... age 69 of melanoma. But before modern medicine... Alot of them... Mendelssohn, Chopin 37, Mozart 35, Schubert 31.

Thanks for the heads up. I haven’t been around much over the last few years (kid and work). I get bothered when I see a fellow Texan act like the stereotypes the media would have the rest of the country (and world) believe.

An example of his reach and influence, here is Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave) doing that song: Nothing Compares 2 U

if the old rule of three still holds, I wonder who will be the last of this triplet of creative giants to pass on. Bowie, Prince, and...?

RIP Prince.

I would not be surprise if it was a heart attack, but that is just a guess.

To heck with being rich or famous. If I could just have someone to speak to people for me I’d be in heaven!

I’ve attended two Prince concerts in my life, both back in the 90’s. They were very well-done with excellent sound, and Prince worked very hard to make them great, memorable experiences with two encores. And this was in a mid-tier market, so I suspect he worked that hard for every audience.

Satire: At a stop in Philly, while shoving a steak & cheese down her throat, Hillary Clinton was asked about her thoughts on the death of Prince. She said she carries duffel bags full of 8-tracks and cassettes of Prince’s music in her purse and that she plays them in her boombox constantly.

The head coach of the UConn women’s basketball team had to spend some time in the hospital because of the flu, would not be surprised if it went in that direction. He is at home recovering.
