When someone passes who is younger than me, and it is not suicide, drugs, or a freak accident, it makes you think.

Yup, it’s also a “for whom the bell tolls” moment for me when somebody famous (esp. the ones younger than me) passes away.

In my antique memory, there was a girl in my 5th grade class who had a thing for Ringo.

I hear you, I turn 62 in a few weeks, and my father and both grandfathers passed away before 60.

He’s written dozens of hit songs for other artists as well. On his albums he sang, played every instrument, wrote and produced. Literally did it all. Total freak. Total genius.

I am a classical music person. So many of those guys die young. Except when one skews the bell curve, like Elliott Carter dies one month short of Birthday 104.

Likely Prince was the best guitarist in decades, IMHO. But 57 is unexpected, unless he died of an overdose or something, but I think it would already be obvious at this juncture, so it looks like it is related to that “flu” or something. There are all kinds of “emerging” diseases, viruses, etc., being introduced into this country by illegal aliens.

Anyway, he’s dead, too bad, a great talent.

A viral influenza is often followed up by bacterial pneumonia. Take your antibiotics. RIP Prince.

Too bad Cue Ball sang it.

But it did give us one of the best SNL skits ever.....

Frank Sinatra: Shut up! Okay, issue number four: Milli Vanilli. What is this faggot crap? Uncle Fester!

Sinead O'Connor: I don't understand the question.

Frank Sinatra: I'll tell you what you better understand! Next time you see Old Glory riding up that pole, you better sing that anthem, darling! You're lucky you're a chick, or you'd be nothing but a stain on the road and a crewcut. Our founding fathers went to the mat for you, baby!

Sinead O'Connor: It's not my flag - I'm Irish.

Frank Sinatra: Oh? Well, then stay off of this stuff.. [ mimes drinking ] That's the curse of you people.

A month ago he was in Toronto. A city he lived in for a short while. Here is what is being reported

Most recently, Prince returned to the city as part of his solo Piano and a Microphone tour, which also included a stop in Montreal in late March.

In Toronto, he played two shows in one night — performing nearly 60 songs across the two, differing setlists — and later ventured out to a club to celebrate afterwards.

Doubt many of us here have that kind of endurance. Maybe he just worked himself to death.

One of my best friend’s sister died at 41from pneumonia she contracted from the flu. I have another acquaintance whose wife just spent a week in a hospital in Mobile, then was flown to Emory in Atlanta where she spent a month, because of pneumonia. She was very critically ill. She is now in a long term care facility receiving all therapy modalities. People do not realize how deadly pneumonia is and how it is killing younger and younger people. And there are plenty of flu strains that will turn into pneumonia very quickly.

I grew up in the 1980’s, Prince was one of those omnipresent musicians you couldn’t get away from even if you wanted too during that era. Most of his tunes were catchy enough, never was a huge fan myself and never went deeper than his “Top 10 Hits”, but by the same token I didn’t dislike him either, but honestly couldn’t recognize one song he released in the last 25 years. Regardless, shame he died, RIP.

I think the draw for some girls back then was the rings shtick. When an interviewer once asked him why he wore so many rings on his fingers, he sez “because they won’t fit on my nose”. Nowadays it wouldn’t be a joke.

He could have had that same bacterial infection as Jim Henson the muppet guy, he thought he had the flu and overnight it destroyed his lungs and killed him
