That’s right. Something seems out of whack when they propose cutting pensions in half. If no changes were made the pension fund would, it is reported, run out of money in 10 years. Less drastic cuts should be able to save the pension fund over the next 10 years.

You can be sure the union bosses have skimmed off plenty and are enjoying themselves while the rank and file who kept them in power are suffering the privileges of their union membership.

Looks like the pension fund is trying to generate a little cash....

Tanglewood Mall (Roanoke, VA) to be sold, brings high hopes for future

4-11-2016

Snip:

Nielsen said the property is being advertised to sell in its entirety and will not be sold off in pieces. It does not have a listing price.

Nielsen said how the mall will be redeveloped depends completely on the new buyer, who could do a variety of things. Thalhimer’s Eric Robison, who is also handling the sale, said he believes the property will be very attractive to regional and national retailers and restaurants.

Roanoke Tanglewood LLC, a local company formed by the Boston-based New England Teamsters and Trucking Industry Pension Fund, bought the mall for about $40 million at foreclosure auction in 2000.

“There’s part of the problem. Why start pension payments at age 58? “

Why is it even allowed to retire at age 58?

I can’t get SS until 62.

Tanglewood Mall is a dump. The largest use of space is a for-profit college.

They believed the promises of politicians.

No sympathy.

I know a Teamster who retired at 55 with nothing wrong with him.

What do these guys think, that they can get pensions for 30 years or more?

Most of us are planning to work until 70 or so, and even that is pushing it if we are taking out of our private retirement accounts and live to be 95.

“I know a Teamster who retired at 55 with nothing wrong with him.”

I know many of the same.

“What do these guys think, that they can get pensions for 30 years or more?”

Yup. And they’re very self-righteous about it.

“Most of us are planning to work until 70 or so, and even that is pushing it if we are taking out of our private retirement accounts and live to be 95.”

Nothing anyone can do about those private pensions, but the six-figure gov pensions with early retirement, ALL need to end, pronto, with the money being returned to people like us.

I’m not working at age 64 while “public servants” age 55, are sipping drinks by the pool.
