Many Twitter users criticized Paladino's "raccoon" remark, suggesting it was a racist slur against Obama and his family.
Trump fan & notable racist Carl Paladino rails against Obama on @NPR. They cut him off at "The people want the raccoons out of the basement"

So anyone else notice Carl Paladino refer to the Obamas as "raccoons" on #WHYY @MorningEdition this morning?! Sarah Wingo (@SgWingo) April 20, 2016

Twitter twits from the Big City, not knowing how a raccoon will literally rip apart your basement should they sneak in and set up "house".
These professional bigots see the phantom darkness in others when they are ignorant and blind to their own.

"Raccoons" is a reference to a widely circulated internet post by some &0-year old guy who offered up an analogy to explain why Trump is so popular despite his supposed "vulgarity", "nastiness", etc. It has nothing to do with Obama or racism.
Here, go to the source

Paladino is from Buffalo, no stranger to raccoons and other critters, I’m sure. My back steps were crowded with them a couple nights ago, while I was making fried chicken. Our property is like a wildlife preserve. Last thing I think of is racist notions about African-Americans.
People who think NYC is New York should really get out a bit. We’re in the center of the state and are 400 miles away from NYC.
Your last sentence is profound.
