Trump has at most 8 years, and possibly no more than 4 to accomplished what he’s promised, and anything he does can be just as easily undone by the next President.
Not easily, look how long Reagans reach lasted.
Trumps will be far longer.
But, go ahead and declare failure now. I don’t give two shits about naysayers such as you.
Excuse me? Perhaps you support Cruz? Mr. Trump is not insulted by the pennies his supporters sent, he is honored.
It seems to be that most people have forgotten that there are Tax Payer monies available for the fall campaign. Last candidate that took them may have been McCain.
So Trump being frugal as he is there is the Tax payer fund of $100 million he can get. Might be enough for him.
I think most all his supporters feel that way even though they haven't donated so far. If a real money bomb drive were launched, I think the results would shock the political world.
A healthy does of skepticism used to be considered a conservative trait here.
A Trump presidency will be little more than a Band-Aid. Any chance of substantially altering our course lies in the Statehouses, not the Whitehouse.
He doesn't need to be so frugal after he wins the nomination. He needs to have a big war chest to respond quickly to anything Hillary and her low lifes might throw at him.
I already voted for our greatest modern day president, Ronald Reagan. I would be ashamed to admit to my children if I supported Trump.
Go to his website. He has a donate button. He is asking for donations
I've been aware of that since the day his website went live. But he is not soliciting donations and never mentions that donate button unless asked about it.
But once he's the nominee, he needs to start asking for donations.
Once he’s the nominee? Seriously? In mid July he starts trying to raise $1B. Hillary is buying $90M in airtime this week.
Trump will be the presumptive nominee well before July, and possibly a week from now.
He's spending his own money so he's going to be more frugal. Yet somehow he's managed to be in first place.
He's smart enough to spend just enough to win and since he's on his own dime, he's probably not going to be paying for a landslide.
>> Perhaps he can sell Trump Towers <<
Are you sure he owns it? I understand that he doesn’t hold a controlling share in many of the buildings that carry his name.
>> Trump will use GOP money in the general election <<
You mean funds from the very “establishment” that his fervent supporters want to smash and destroy?
Sorta ironic, doncha think?
>> If you take away the value of his name, Trump would probably have to liquidate a significant amount of his fortune <<
Yeah, like when it snows in Hell.
And after all, when the properties are sold and his name is taken off of them, what prices will they command? Maybe 50 to 70% of Mr. Trump’s self-declared valuations?
>> I believe the last year on his financials he had a net income of about 270 million <<
So what is the net income figure on his tax return for 2014?
If it’s as much as 270, I’d be shocked out of my chair.
>> If Trump were to win and change his mind, not only would it hurt him with his core supporters <<
Fat chance of that, my FRiend, fat chance.
Most of Mr. Trump’s supporters will drink whatever Kool-Aid he cooks up for them, and they will march over whatever cliff he steers them to.
I beg to differ. You are forgetting just how bad a candidate she is. She's the dem version of Jeb:
Not telegenic (actually quite hideous looking)
Can't speak well.
Boring when she speaks with a normal tone.
Sounds like the wicked witch of the west when animated.
Her own party doesn't like her.
She is almost getting beat by a 74 year old moron.
Women. Yes women, particularly under 35, hate her.
No one really wants her to be president.
She is considered corrupt (64%), and this with fawning press coverage.
She is low energy, and sickly.
She has no natural constituency that is gung ho for her, not even women.
I could go on, but really, she might be the most awful candidate in history, as bad as Jeb but without a challenger from her own party.
I think it will be brutal, she's never had anyone fight back against her worth their salt. She's about to find that out.
So much of life is about emotion, and elections come down to emotion as well. Her negatives are significantly different than his. He rubs some people the wrong way, and is thought of as brash and arrogant, but he is also charismatic and likable, and generates excitement around him. This is why he's gotten so much free press. He draws an audience for them. Further, his message resonates with a large number of people who feel unrepresented - including a significant percentage of traditional democrats. He actually has the capacity to redefine the demographic mix, and this could be a game changer in the US for at least the next 50 years.
She is actually the ‘establishment’ candidate at a time of fervent anti-establishment sentiment. IMHO this is why Bernie has done so surprisingly well against her. The Clintons used to represent the ‘fresh, new, smart, progressive’ politics to many. Scandal after scandal, and the familiarity that comes with watching the same move to the basket too many times, has eradicated that. They aren't new or fresh, and their politics has become much more predictable and transparent. Hillary is not charismatic, is seen by a large number of voters as self-serving, and she has a record that is very flawed. Further, Trump won't just point out her negatives, he will go after the jugular in a way that has not been seen coming from the Republican side in my lifetime.
