Sorry Donald, Cruz Spent Thousands, not Millions on Wyoming
Conservative Review ^ | 04/18/16 | Robert Eno

Posted on 04/18/2016 7:18:39 PM PDT by writer33

On Saturday, to blunt his pending loss in Wyoming, Donald Trump went on Fox and Friends to complain about Wyoming’s convention. He cast aspersions on Republican activists in the state, saying they could be bought. If they could be bought, the price was pretty low. Federal Election Commission data shows that up to February 29, 2016, Ted Cruz has reported spending less than $2,200 in the state.

Because election spending is regulated by the federal government, exactly how much Cruz spent, “months before” the Wyoming Convention, is known. The precinct caucuses in Wyoming were held between February 16 and March 1. Federal Election Commission data covers basically the entire caucus process and reveals that the Cruz campaign spent $2,127 between the start of the campaign and the end of February.

The nation will tun on him if he continues his anti-Trump crusade.

I am sure that if you had given this piece of wisdom to Senator Cruz earlier, he would have moved heaven and earth to insure that Mr. Trump was not disadvantaged in any way. It is hard to believe that, being a constitutional scholar, he missed that hidden article in the founding document specifying that Mr. Trump was entitled to the nomination along with assistance and support from all other candidates. May he, as well as all other detractors, repent and join you in pledging fealty to the master.

You really don't get it. Even if Trump comes up a little short, the leadership will steer enough unbound delegates his direction in the first ballot for him to win. The more he needs the more concessions they will be able to get form him. Only the losers want a "contested convention". It is a recipe for disaster.

If Trump is only a little short, he has a strong hand. Making concessions to the Establishment for unbound delegates (MANY of which are NOT Establishment) is one option especially if he can do it quietly, making a play directly to Rubio or Kasich is another option, which requires (for Rubio at least) some face saving which Trump is actually pretty good at, if he could find a point of contact with Cruz himself that would be a lead pipe cinch, but that ship has sailed, and Cruz can wait 4 or 8 years for another go as Reagan did twice.

The Establishment is not a monolith. Parts of it hate/fear Cruz more than Trump, and different parts of it want different concessions. Trump always has the option of publicizing the discussion as he did with Ailes over the Megyn Kelly thing months ago. You can do that if you have a strong position and a plan B.

We will see whether Cruz gets disgraced or not. I don't see it, and though not a Trump supporter, I successfully predicted that all the things that are supposed to end the Trump popularity wouldn't work, and would in some cases make him more popular. I called him macaca proof last summer for that reason, and view that as a plus.

I also believe that Sen. Cruz would be a far better president, and am willing to have him soak up whatever "not Trump" support is out there rather than a Kasich or somebody else. The convention is also about the Party Platform and future rules of the party, and I trust the typical Cruz delegate (including those bound to Trump or another on the first ballot) than I anyone else to do the right thing on those matters.

So I guess you think that the 80% plus that is voting against Cruz are going to give it to him? How foolish are you?

But the Trumpsters constantly say how much the establishment senators hate Cruz.

Rush's point was that the GOPe is okay with Cruz getting the nomination as they know Hillary will beat him.

I wonder the same thing, realizing it’ll put me even further into nutjob territory with his many supporters here, but, oh, well!

I also wonder why he hasn’t released any of his tax returns.

Ooops, what’ve I just gone and done?!? O-o

“... Trump does not need to get 1237.”

Yes, he does. There is no way to win the nomination unless you get 1,237 delegates.

Those are the rules. Not whim. Not plurality. The MAJORITY. Those are the rules.

so if trump spent $10k, he would’ve won?

Not likely, it's a conservative state.

Such ignorance. The GOPe have despised Cruz. And he has called them the Washington Cartel. Cruz has a long record of bucking the GOP and serving his constituents.

That’s all this guy does!! He refuses to put any money wooing the delegates then when he loses he complains about it! Sorry wrong word he whines about it.. he doesn’t want to put in the effort to keep his delegates.. By the time the convention roles around Cruz will have enough delegates to block the Trump nomination!!!

Trump could have pumped his entire fortune into Wyoming and he still would have lost ..it’s Cheney territory and there is no way in hell they would have let Trump win ... the fix is in , in certain states

“Ted Cruz has reported spending less than $2,200 in the state.”
The only problem with that is Ted Cruz lies a lot. He has lied to the FEC about campaign funding loans from his 2012 Senatorial campaign. He still refuses to disclose the terms of those loans as required by the FEC. You really have to take anything Cruz reports with a huge grain of salt and probably won’t know the truth for years if past experience with Cruz is any indication.

The are being audited as he has said many times. His tax lawyers have told him not to release until the audit is done.

So when there are not enough delegates left for Ted to get to 1237 he’s not out because he can stay in and try to savage the remaining candidate and hope that the GOPe will bestow the nomination on him even though the American people voted for Trump.
That sounds like a man I can cheerfully loathe. Because its all about him not about America or the American people at all.

Were Ted Cruz’s lips moving when he said he spent $2,200? just saying. Besides the state GOP is the one that spent all the money. Totally foolish article, ridiculously.

GREAT POST!

Well said.

I think if Trump does get the nomination he will be beaten badly by hillary. She will be such a disaster as POTUS that in 4 years Sen Cruz will be welcomed with open arms.

Hmm, ‘cuz I heard that your returns being audited, which his are every year as a wealthy businessman, has no bearing on whether or not the details can be released.
