MORIA, Greece (AP) — Pope Francis gave Europe a concrete lesson Saturday in welcoming refugees by bringing 12 Syrian Muslims to Italy aboard his charter plane after an emotional visit to the Greek island of Lesbos, which has faced the brunt of Europe's migration crisis.

Refugees on the overwhelmed island fell to their knees and wept at his presence

.

The Vatican said Francis wanted to make a "gesture of welcome" at the end of his five-hour visit to Lesbos, where he implored Europe to respond to the migrant crisis on its shores "in a way that is worthy of our common humanity." The Greek island just a few miles from the Turkish coast has seen hundreds of thousands of desperate people land on its beaches and rocks in the last year, fleeing war and poverty at home.

As a Catholic, I started to read up on infallibility.

It is VERY rare where it applies.

It doesn’t apply here.

...he implored Europe to respond to the migrant crisis on its shores "in a way that is worthy of our common humanity."

Mr. Pope!, Mr. Pope!, Mr. Pope! A question from outside the 50 foot high walls surrounding The Vatican?

If our humanity is so common, what are these "refugees" fleeing? Mothra?

Do you have a lecture or a diatribe reserved for those who are causing the conditions these people are escaping from?

Heavens sake there has to be many believers both in full or partial communion. But full communion believers such as the Chaldean and Syrian Catholic believers that they don’t seek these out is appalling.

He who is ignorant of history is doomed to repeat it. The future crisis in Europe will cause much misery and shed much blood.

No Christians? Let them be slaughtered?

Who stayed in this church after this stuff from the pope?

Come to the Orthodox church where we know all too well about muslims.

Not sure how he would feel if they started to make demands, riot, and behave in other deplorable ways while his guests. There are reasons that citizens and governments have ‘buyers remorse’.

A rather interesting observation-all of Christ’s teachings seem to be based upon individuals interacting with other individuals. I’m not aware how he dealt with mass invasions. Indeed he forbade his disciples from going to the gentiles. He actually discriminated; he separated the sheep from the goats; the wheat from the tares. GASP!

There was a rumor that Pope John Paul thought the Anti-Pope was two successors away, I think he was right.

What an A-hole. That is a lesson alright. 12 handpicked people, on his personal jet, to a luxury mansion where he will never see them again unless he wants a picaninny photo op. Gosh, that’s just like Jesus!/a

It would be worth looking at if he let the moslens decide how many will come, let them flood in as they pleased, they were all male, and let then set the rules on how the Vatican must be changed to not offend them.

This is meaningless.

If you want to cure a disease like (i)slam you should attempt to apply the cure at the place of its origin, if that’s possible, but not bring the disease in to your home where the disease is liable to infect and kill you in the process. Unfortunately most humans are slow learners and will have to face the consequences and pay for their ignorance.

Did the Pope take the muslims into the Vatican and let them run around there or did he dump them on the good people of Italy?

Take a guess...

The real lesson here is that borders don’t matter to the Pope and that he needs to retire for the good of the church.

Can I assume that the Pope is granting them citizenship in Vatican City and providing housing and meeting all of their other needs? Otherwise, what business does he have bringing them to Italy and leaving them there?

He's acting as a head of state, so it's the only thing that makes sense. The Vatican now has 12 Syrian refugees working toward their Vatican citizenship!!

Just bein' logical here. <^..^>

As a former Catholic, I marvel at adoration given such an insignificant old poop. Look up feeble minded in the dictionary and you’ll see a picture of “his holiness”.
