A lot of the “new economy” (bars, restaurants) are just a reflection of the reality that childless working adults government employees are all that is left of the “discretionary dollar” economy. Not only are the jobs crappy, but if $15/hour is forced on employers those workers will be bringing in $15/hour for many years - and they will be the SAME workers because there are few other jobs.

I would take much of what Money has to say with caution. They’re very leftist. I remember back in 1994 when Clinton was pushing ClintonCare. Money had a feature with five families outlining their finances and financial issues. They asked the question what would be the best thing for these families. Their answer: national universal health care. Their rationale: taxes were taking so much of their money, they needed free health care.

I hate to say it but you are correct. We have a full blown socialist constituency in America. They are parasites for whom socialism promises “free stuff for nothng” but will deliver Venezuela or Zimbabwe. The floodgates were creaking in 2000 and 2004, but they burst in 2008. Now that the socialists control both political parties and every major institution in America, and have the backing of over half the people, that is exactly what we are going to get.

Sadly, it would appear you are correct. This has been building since the 60’s. It had been held at bay for a long while, but the full destruction of the counter-culture hippies is upon us. The radical 60’s hippies took over the college campuses, and the artsy media. They have been training and conditioning the upcoming generations. Now that many of the stalwarts are gone or marginalized the Millennials are likely to be the generation which alters America forever.

Clinton was kept in check, and the conditioning of the American mind was not yet complete. But let’s face it, Obama was the final barrier to what is to come. As Obama came in there was no one left to advocate for what America had long stood for. The Republican Congress was, and is, a complete failure. They have said and done nothing except cower and labor to protect themselves and what they have accumulated.

Now we have Bernie Sanders that nearly half the country is ecstatic about and would love to see this classic Socialist assume control of America, the glaring example of Venezuela be damned.

There is a strong delusion that is currently gripping America, and I am afraid that it is judgment time.

Except that we are infinitely richer than Venezuela or Zimbabwe, with far more resources to loot. Once they implement Socialism I’m afraid they can keep the scam running past the end of my lifetime.

The Food Town on the North end had something similar to this--50 years ago... One person ran the show!

She lives in Pennsylvania and supports Saunders.

Can't quite put my finger on it, but I sense a problem here.

Took me a couple of times, but I finally learned my lesson. The average shelf life of a small company controller is 18-24 months. Once management thinks you've got the accounting system back in good condition, they "decide to go in a different direction." IOW, they can hire a newbie out of college, and go cheap for 2-3 years. Lather, rinse, repeat.

It is the purest expression of Socrates vs Plato, the average 90% are stupid slaves to be taken care of versus average person should be free to act and develop.
Sanders = average person slave, though most want to be the 10% elite
Trump = average person is capable and should be free to act

Well, the eGOP and the demonrats only sell out the US more and more. More companies moving overseas and more foreign workers given visas to come here.

Even Ted Cruz supports bringing in another 325,000 foreign H-1B tech workers this year to replace even more American tech works. He wants even more next year.

It would be funny to see modern Luddites as hackers who hack the planes and automated cars so that no one will board one without a human at the controls, so they don’t end up crashed in a wall out of malice or taken somewhere they don’t want to be for kidnapping or government direction.

Bernie is such an inspiration to people afraid of trying to better themselves. He is a professional bitter complainer about undeserved wealth who is too lazy to learn or sharpen his understanding of reality beyond his self righteous bitterness. And yet he has adoring fans and is retiring from a comfortable life with a net worth of about two million.

I heard on the radio about a study where three out of four Americans choose price over the “Made in USA” label. Cause and effect?

Yeah, there’s only two left in our area, one in Toledo, one in Temperance, MI. There was a warehouse/distribution center in Maumee OH forever but I haven’t been up there in an age. It’s too bad, it was my favorite grocery store. The last Great Scot I shopped in was in Findlay OH, 30+ years back...

I was unemployed then took a $13/hr job and kept looking. Then I took a job with a federal contractor that began at $18 and is now almost $20/hr. But the employer lost the contract and the new company wants to pay me $15 plus a government imposed Obamacare stipend which rolls into a 401k if you don’t spend it. The new company is trying to sell us that this is better because the stipend is tax-free. What they don’t say, of course, is you can’t get at your 401k money until you turn 59-1/2 unless you want to pay stiff penalties. For younger contractors, it’s a huge rip-off.

I have been blessed. I have been blessed in my investments - which I put a lot of time and mind into, and I have worked almost 40 years with the same company in IT. I have been lucky also.

But now I see so many around me, so many Americans, being devastated and what the Middle Class needs, the number one issue is JOBS and the ECONOMY. There is also a symbiotic relation between actual Americans losing their jobs, their middle class, their good pay, and this invasion of hordes of cheap labor, selfish globalist types such as Heidi Cruz and her ilk, and the donor class to the establishment which is all about more cheap labor, more amnesty, an endless spigot.

I am voting Trump. Jobs. Economy. I am sick of seeing actual Americans being disenfranchised from good jobs, and employment, and now EVEN THEIR VOTES by the ilk of Cruz and others.

To hell with that ilk. To hell with them all. To hell with the GOPe. To hell with the DNC estalishment. To hell with them all. Nationalism. Jobs. Economy. Stop the invastion. Stop it all, it is now about STOPPING and UNDOING, and making America a nation build on STEEL and not lettuce.

You are right that they are victorious in terms of voting, but a side effect of that (if not the cause itself) is that there are less “makers” to fund it. Once taxpaying Anglos stopped breeding, the “takers” took control - but there are fewer and fewer people to pay for what they consider “freebies”.

The breakdown of the housing market, and corresponding collapse of municipal finances, best reflect this problem; all the services provided need funding, and nobody wants to assume the fiscal responsibilities by buying the homes anymore.
