In Georgia, Donald Trump supporters sound the alarm — perhaps too late

Donald Trump's soldiers in Georgia are waking up -- perhaps too late -- to what's at stake on Saturday, when Republicans gather by congressional district to pick more than half of the 76 delegates and alternates who will attend July's presidential nominating convention in Cleveland.logo-all

This morning, Trump state director Brandon Phillips sent out an email that was one-half alarm bell and one-half plea. It included this paragraph:

"Mr. Trump won Georgia by more than 14 points, almost 200,000 more votes than his next closest rival. He also carried 155 counties out of 159. Ted Cruz didn't win a single county. Because of this landslide victory, Mr. Trump was awarded 42 delegates. We're asking that the Republican officials honor his victory this Saturday with fair representation."

The email goes on to list Trump coordinators in the 14 congressional districts, with this message:

"If you are willing to attend one of these meetings this Saturday morning and show your support for Mr. Trump, please contact the volunteer coordinator nearest you."

Here's the thing: The selection of delegates who will represent Trump in Cleveland, as well as Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, is now a closed process. If you weren't selected as a congressional convention delegate last month at the county-level meetings, you will have no standing at Saturday's gatherings. Other than as a spectator.

Moreover, in most congressional districts, the processing of applications to be a delegate in Cleveland is nearly over. For instance, in the 11th District, interviews for potential delegates were held on Saturday and Tuesday. A final session will be held tonight. More than likely, if you haven't applied to be a delegate by now, you're out of luck.

Well, he did spend several pages in his 2000 book, The America We Deserve, criticizing “soft money” and corruption in politics.

He also wrote about supporting gun control in that book.

Another dealbreaker for that RINO Trump.

So if I believe the Republican Party gets to pick the Republican candidate, and the Democrat Party gets to pick the Democrat, I am for a dictatorship?!?!

Guess what, I also believe the Green Party gets to pick their candidate and the Libertarian party gets to pick theirs, too.

And I have no say in them. Now, if I believed those who do not want to be part of those parties somehow had a right to be a part of their selection process, I would be closer to your argument here.

You don’t want anything to do with the Republican Party. Why do you think you somehow have a right to dictate their candidate selection process?

No, we voters gave them the house and Senate. Many of us held our nose and voted for GOPe candidates we did not like under the guise of we just gave them control of the Senate, like we did the House, they would fight.

I do not trust anything the GOPe does any longer and neither do most voters. Steal this nomination and watch the Presidency, House and Senate go Democrat.

This stuff is titillating to speculate about except the facts and reality keep getting in the way. The reality is that Trump is going to get 1237 delegates and will easily win the nomination on the first ballot.

The majority of voters didn’t vote for Trump and his liberalism. They took it for what it was - a plurality.

Yes.

Same with the Dems, and the Greens, and the Whigs, back when we had Whigs.

It’s their party. You are invited to tell them what you think in the caucuses or primaries, but unless you actively participate and work yourself into a position of influence, you don’t get to state the rules.

Parties are not democracies. They are private entities that select candidates to represent them, and they’re free to do it as they wish.

That’s a concept that many American voters apparently fail to understand.

If he gets 1,237 delegates, then he will be our candidate.

And defenders of that scam forget we are a republic not an feudal system. If they are supposed to represent the voters as they claim there would be no unbound (Super-delegates) who serve no purpose but to protect the party. They do not represent the voters of their states.

If he gets 1237, he’ll be the nominee, and I’ll be leaving the POTUS position blank (first one I’ve skipped since RINO Joe Schwarz) since after the Romney debacle, I’m done voting for RINO’s at any level.

They do not represent the voters of their states.

My state's an open primary with split votes which is how Chump won with less than 40%.

Just another fly in the ointment, a monkey in the wrench.

A Jedi.

And yes....I wasn't just zotted....no no no no....I was “CARPET ZOTTED” way back when.

It was over immigration. W refused to close the borders...even after 9/11.

Some of us held him to account...others...like the Trumproids of today....were blind. Weren't too keen on the freedom of speech thingy...if you know what I mean.

Anyone who disagreed with W on the illegal immigrant invasion back then was persona non grata.

A lot of great FReepers were lost (temporarily) in that battle.

We were Cruzaders...before there was a Cruz.

Some things change....some things don't. The FICO’s of today (Financial Individual Concerns Only) are the same of today.

And if they do not care to see the results of yesterday they will have the same results tomorrow.

I came back to try to prevent that.

How about you?

Jedi.

rules that got us the senate

lot of good that did us. Only Trump can stop what is happening to the system and the entire country. CRuz can't do a damn thing. He's powerless. But worse, he's part of the system that must go.

But that “increasing uneducated work force” may well put him in office. Frustrated people looking for a sugar daddy to make it all better.

Isn’t that what the Dems have been doing to the welfare class for decades?

That’s what Trump’s one-syllable speeches are all about, and it’s working.

I laugh every time I hear some Trumpster suggest Cruz is “part of the system” or an “establishment candidate.”

The guy has been fighting ever since we sent him to Washington, whether in arguments before the Supreme Court or in opposing the party leaders in the Senate. He’s made a name for himself by being an outsider.

There are plenty of valid criticisms of Ted Cruz, and I have many. (Don’t like the guy, don’t want to vote for him.)

Being an insider is not one of them and just makes his critics look silly.

If half of Trump's supporters abandon the GOP in the coming election, this will be the reason. The GOPe/Cruz/ NeverTrump private party will trigger a Democrat majority, probably for the rest of our natural lives. The First and Second Amendmebt cases will be relitigated and decided by majorities in the Sotomayor court. Illegal aliens will obtain the right to vote. Firearms will be strictly restricted. Opposition to Homosexual marriage will be a civil rights violation. Thank the man from Canada.

Rules only purpose is to screw the public.
We are a nation of laws not rules.

The rules are not Cruz brilliance,
instead the rules = NeverTrump.

A five year old would also win all the NeverTrump delegates.

The Constitution says a list of person candidates.

Rules are unConstitutional criminal fraud.

Cruz supporters are Constitutional illiterate.

Cruz supporters are attracted to the bible quote dog whistle. Blow the whistle, yell a bible quote, “den of vipers”, Cruzers pant with glee, set the bible down, then lie lie lie.

The GOPe has never had a ground game per say. Groups from the Pro-life movement, the NRA, and other grass roots conservative allies gave them the support at the local level to make these things happen.

These same groups, along with the Tea-Party and other activist organizations, are now the ones hunting delegates for the Cruzade.

Not too many Rinos/GOPe/Hacks allowed in the ranks these days...trust me.

The thought of another North East Rino at the head of the Republican ticket is repugnant to most of us.

That leader giving money to the gang of 8 and the Clinton Foundation?

UNACCEPTABLE.

Sorry.

FRgards,
Jedi.
