In Georgia, Donald Trump supporters sound the alarm — perhaps too late

Donald Trump's soldiers in Georgia are waking up -- perhaps too late -- to what's at stake on Saturday, when Republicans gather by congressional district to pick more than half of the 76 delegates and alternates who will attend July's presidential nominating convention in Cleveland.logo-all

This morning, Trump state director Brandon Phillips sent out an email that was one-half alarm bell and one-half plea. It included this paragraph:

"Mr. Trump won Georgia by more than 14 points, almost 200,000 more votes than his next closest rival. He also carried 155 counties out of 159. Ted Cruz didn't win a single county. Because of this landslide victory, Mr. Trump was awarded 42 delegates. We're asking that the Republican officials honor his victory this Saturday with fair representation."

The email goes on to list Trump coordinators in the 14 congressional districts, with this message:

"If you are willing to attend one of these meetings this Saturday morning and show your support for Mr. Trump, please contact the volunteer coordinator nearest you."

Here's the thing: The selection of delegates who will represent Trump in Cleveland, as well as Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, is now a closed process. If you weren't selected as a congressional convention delegate last month at the county-level meetings, you will have no standing at Saturday's gatherings. Other than as a spectator.

Moreover, in most congressional districts, the processing of applications to be a delegate in Cleveland is nearly over. For instance, in the 11th District, interviews for potential delegates were held on Saturday and Tuesday. A final session will be held tonight. More than likely, if you haven't applied to be a delegate by now, you're out of luck.

I bet Hillary will run ads on how Ted Cruz doesn't want your vote to count and she will be right and about a 44 state Landslide

Problem is their are no do overs as the GOP is heading to the slaughter house

If Cruz could win a national election he’d have won at least one county in FL [this is an understatement] and he’d have finished better than a dismal, mediocre third in Ohio.

And who should make the rules for selecting a Republican Party candidate: the Democrats? Those who do not profess to be a part of the Republican Party? Independents?

If Trump wanted to be independent, he should have run as one. He is trying the represent the Republican Party. They should be able to control their selection process.

RE:”“Mr. Cruz has no democratic path to the nomination.”
.....
That’s irrelevant in the US. We are NOT a democracy. For a reason. We are a constitutional republic.
Mr. Cruz DOES have a republican path to the nomination.”

Its liberals who always call the US a Democracy.
They do it all the time on MSNBC and DU.

But I guess if the Trumpees think that a POTUS can do this
Donald Trump promises to mandate death penalty for killing police officers( The Washington Times ^ | 12/10/2015 | Jay LeBlanc)
then its no surprise that they believe Trump when he calls this a democracy.

All the Dem candidate has to do is show Ted’s pastor pal explaining all homosexuals need to be killed, then introducing the proud and smiling Cruz. The Cuban Canadian would lose ~40 states.

Well, he did spend several pages in his 2000 book, The America We Deserve, criticizing “soft money” and corruption in politics. He didn’t criticize the delegate selection process because I don’t think he realized how relatively little voters matter in the process. I hadn’t realized it was quite this bad before either.

National runoff primary elections held all on the same day.

Any candidate with 10% of the vote makes it to the next level.

The first candidate to get 50% of the vote is the nominee.

These are the REALLY REALLY REALLY Smart people Trump will hire to negotiate better trade deals with China and Mexico. As you know, it is only bad trade deals that hurt American business and not Taxes, over regulation, Union cronyism and increasing uneducated work force that is hurting competitiveness. Nope, we just need all those smart people waiting in the bullpen to take over and all problems solved!

I’m glad that some of the Cruzers are finally openly admitting that they support the dictatorship of the GOP establishment over regular voters, now that their candidate is fully in bed with the GOPe. Why pretend anymore that they don’t want total domination by the Republican Party leaders (and yes, state party leaders are still party leaders)? To avoid hypocrisy, they should all move away from the now silly “outsider” claim.

Fear not FRiend. I was a “Tea-Party” conservative before there was a “Tea-Party”.

Stealing delegates?

That is a lie.

But then if you support a guy who has given aid and comfort to my political enemies via donations to say, the Clinton Foundation or members of the gang of 8, who are you really?

FRgards,

Jedi.

No crap. That's how the system's worked for years in most states. Trump's a democrat though, so he wouldn't know that. :)

Most of the states precinct delegates were also from a 2014 electorate. That's THE conservative base, and they don't like planned parenthood supporters like Trump very much.
