I meant if he gets the nomination where does he get voters for the general election? So far Cruz’s support has not been translating into actual votes. If it was Trump would not be so far ahead of him at this point.

At this point it is clear Cruz will not be able to get to 1237 and he is just staying in to block Trump from getting the nomination. Voters will remember.

Cruz has strong support nation wide as shown by consistent polling data.

He is the only “R” candidate that beats Hillary.

Cruz has stronger national support than Trump, by a broad margin.

Why do you constantly ignore that data?

Close to 70% of Republican voters never voted for Trump.

More than half of those that did vote for Trump indicate that they would happily vote for Cruz in the general election.

You are making a fuss over a handful of acrimonious miscreants.

You make good points based on some information that I was not aware of, so I concede the point - with regard to Wisconsin.

Perhaps I am jaded after learning recently how delegates are selected here in Pennsylvania, which is 180% from the way Wisconsin does it. Here, 54 of 71 delegates are elected from slates of district delegate candidates along with their presidential candidate, on primary day. How they got on those slates, I have no idea, but the state wide winner’s campaign had nothing to do with it, because our primary hasn’t happened yet.

But here, the voters have no way of determining how the unbound delegate intends to vote, unless the voter has done his own research. Even so, the delegate candidate may or may not have publicly declared their intentions nor is he/she obligated to do so, or to vote according to their declaration. Furthermore, the slate of candidates in a particular district may or may not include delegates leaning toward a given candidate even if those leanings were known. I’ve done research and yet I feel it is a total crap shoot in my district.

I’ll be picking 3 out of 7 candidates and my best bet is one that says he intends to vote for the statewide winner, and two others that say they’ll vote for the district winner, but I have no idea what they’ll actually do, especially on later ballots.

Wisconsin’s case aside, there is plenty of evidence in other states for the point I was making, namely that GOPe campaign operatives are seizing opportunities to plant GOPe loyalists by indicating they are for Cruz, Trump or whomever, and they plan on supporting a GOPe candidate as soon as they are free to do so. Trump supporters know this us happening. Cruz supporters are naive if they don’t believe this is happening.

I hope Trump clinches 1237 and my suspicions never get put to the test, but if he doesn’t get 1237, and there is an open convention, I doubt it will be Cruz who picks up the unbound delegates - the GOPe doesn’t want Cruz any more than they want Trump - we will see at that time who these delegates really are.

You’re obviously not an election guy.

Code for: You don't know how to answer because you know I'm right.

Way to take the issue head on sir.

Say, aren't you Cruz supporters supposed to be so much smarter than the rest of us that you, and you alone, can discuss substance?

I guess not.

Cognitive dissonance is really hard to handle isn't it?

You are kidding yourself and being played. If people wanted to vote for Cruz, they could have done so. Why did they not vote for Cruz when they had the chance? Do I need to remind you that Trump has a lot more votes than Cruz?

This would be funny stuff if it wouldn’t get Hillary elected if you Cruz supporters get your way.

If Trump supporters are indeed a group of acrimonious miscreants it looks like Cruz needs to get some supporters like that.

Cruz has zero chance of getting the nomination in the first vote or any subsequent vote. If Trump isn’t the nominee the gopE bosses will force their choice on us and that won’t be Cruz! It is either Trump or we lose. How Cruz people miss this is beyond strange.

Who do you think the skunks running the convention are going to choose in round two, round three, round .... ? I can submit 4 possible establishment choices and none of them are Trump or Cruz.

Conservatives are so smart they are often completely blind to the reality of the corruption of politics. Oh sure but this year it will be different, the GOP establishment will choose the conservative! NO THEY WON’T !

They are using Cruz to take out Trump who is the only one who has the support to win.

If they would combine forces, the GOPe wouldn’t be able to put in their own candidate.

I still think that's possible. Not necessarily a Trump-Cruz ticket, but a temporary alliance to stick it to the GOPe.

Trump and Cruz are each cold blooded negotiators in their own way. Anything is possible.

Many that now enthusiastically support Cruz once supported Rube or Carson.

Both of them were once touted as acceptable choices before they floundered. This is a normal consequence of a large field of choices, but notably every vote that was not for Trump was decidedly anti-Trump. (and they have been a solid majority)

Cruz will not flounder.

Your denial of reality will make your head explode.

Ted Cruz Picks Up Nebraska Delegates over No Show Donald Trump

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) can add Nebraska to his list of states where he’s out organized GOP frontrunner Donald Trump in collecting delegates.

“Party officials say they saw virtually no organization by the mogul’s campaign last week when Republicans in all 93 Nebraska counties held local conventions. Those county conventions picked 800 delegates to May’s Nebraska state convention, where 33 delegates to the national convention in Cleveland will be selected,” Politico reports. “Because there was little resistance, many county conventions became Cruz pep rallies, according to interviews with party insiders and convention attendees.”

“I didn’t see any Trump supporters,” said Washington County GOP member John Orr told Politico

....

Cruz is expected to win the Nebraska winner take all primary on May 10.

We are still in primary season, Jim.
At the end of the day, and at the end of July, there are three whole months for everyone to forget about this election season and rally around the nominee.

I think it is safe to say that Trump and Cruz supporters have two very basic things in common - energized to hate the GOPe, and energized to hate Hillary Clinton.

She is running against one person and can’t put the geriatric Communist to bed. No way is she going to win.

Hey, if you think your guy is tougher on illegal immigration than Trump that’s great. Now all you have to do is convince the world and you’re good to go.

You're absolutely wrong and the polls you cling to, are VERY wrong!

Cruz can't beat Trump...he is even less likely/able to beat Hillary!

Cruz convinced me he is not when he won Utah. LDS is for open borders, illegal immigration, Muslim refugees.
