60 Big-Name Businesses Join Coalition Against Missouri 'Religious Liberty' Bill
Talking Points Memo ^ | 04/13/2016 | Summer Ballentine

Posted on 04/13/2016 11:52:13 AM PDT by Cyberman

More than 60 businesses including some of Missouri's biggest corporate names joined a coalition opposed to state legislation that would protect businesses objecting on religious grounds to same-sex marriages, the latest sign of a backlash against such proposals across the country.

Agricultural giant Monsanto, prescription drug benefits manager Express Scripts, and pet food maker Nestle Purina are among employers to join the recently formed Missouri Competes, according to gay rights advocacy group PROMO, which released the list just hours before a House committee heard testimony from business, sports and religious groups. Dozens crammed in the Capitol basement for the late-night hearing.

The formation of the coalition comes amid business pushback to legislation in other states protecting those opposed to gay marriage.

Several states and cities have banned travel to Mississippi in response to a law signed by the Republican governor last week to let workers cite religious beliefs to deny services to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.

The Missouri Chamber of Commerce, which opposes the Missouri measure, has pointed to Indiana as another example of the business backlash. A public-private tourism group has estimated that Indiana lost $60 million in hotel profits, tax revenues and other economic benefits after Indiana Republican Gov. Mike Pence last year signed religious-objections legislation....

Every leftist I know says it would be a GOOD thing if Monsanto and Nestle were kept out of state. And I’m sure ExpressScripts, being a for-profit pharm middleman is high on their list of hated companies, too.

Suppose the freaks get absolutely everything they want. Then what will they do?

Well I wanted to post you a link to a video of Bob Hope saying:

I’ve just flown in from California, where they’ve made homosexuality legal. I thought I’d get out before they make it compulsory.

But the Queer promoting Thought NAZIS at google have made it impossible to find on youtube. (Which Google owns.)

The point is, they will attempt to make it compulsory, or they will attempt to make the social conditions such that your will be castigated if you refuse to participate.

Then they will start killing people.

Time to pass laws that outlaw blackmail of this nature. Fine these beasts on their way out of the state.

Time to bring the full force of a Vindictive and wrath filled government down on the tops of all their heads. When we get into power, we need to work out ways to destroy these companies, destroy the people who run them, and to destroy any others that think they can dictate to us.

The first thing we need to do is to make sure all their Muslim customers around the world know that they are supporting this blasphemy against Islam.

A few hundred billion dollars worth of bitchslap from the Muslim nations ought to wake them the F*** up.

Yeah. That's just what America needs: bigger and more powerful government.

Come the revolution, we'll show those damn bourgeoisie who's boss ...

Yeah. That's just what America needs: bigger and more powerful government.

Some parts of it certainly do. For example, all those people trying to impose their will on us. Yeah, they need double heaping helpings of Government smack down.

Regarding these large, hugely profitable corporations where few people do any actual work, and most get by through some form of rent seeking, I am reminded of what Adam Smith had to say.

"People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices."

We have functional monopolies now, and monopolies so large that they think they are beyond anyone's control. It's time to disabuse them of that notion.

The vast, overwhelming majority of " all those people trying to impose their will on us" are in and of the government, or are using its power against us.

The biggest 'rent-seeking' entity in North America is the US Government, and the 50 or so next biggest are State or city governments. And you want to give more power to any of them?

To HELL with that!!!

You must not be up to speed. Have you not noticed the massive amount of Nazi style fascist like collusion between the government and proponents of big government in big business?

You do know that Google deliberately helped Barack Obama win the election in 2012?

No, we are in a Fascist style system of governance currently. Large Wealthy corporations are now exerting undue influence on the direction and control of government, and as far as I'm concerned, they need a good dosage of their own medicine to fix what is wrong with them.

The biggest 'rent-seeking' entity in North America is the US Government, and the 50 or so next biggest are State or city governments. And you want to give more power to any of them?

Not at all. I simply want to use a weapon against the people who have turned it into what it is.

Barack Obama targeted us, now it's time that an opposition government launched that same government at those Liberal bastards that enabled him. They need a good walloping from government to teach them why it needs to be restrained as much as possible.

How are you going to get them to moan unless you gore their ox?

You must not be capable of reading.

The vast, overwhelming majority of " all those people trying to impose their will on us" are in and of the government, or are using its power against us.

You quote the above, then accuse me of not being 'up to speed', then cite examples of people using the power of government against us. I'm laughing at you.

Not at all. I simply want to use a weapon against the people who have turned it into what it is.

I think you're remarkably foolish. I don't want to use unconstitutional government against anyone. I want to DESTROY unconstitutional government.

You remind me that the slave doesn't dream of freedom; he dreams of being master.

I think that this kind of behavior by businesses may in the long run be bad for the bottom line. No one likes bullys.I suspect that the goods and services that they provide can be gotten somewhere else.

Most big businesses are in bed with the leftists, even though the left would like to seize their assets.

Atlas Shrugged is now nonfiction.

But we had a few blessed months (before pence caved) when the faggots went elsewhere and left us alone.

It was worth every dime.

You must not be capable of reading. The vast, overwhelming majority of " all those people trying to impose their will on us" are in and of the government, or are using its power against us.

And you must not be capable of grasping the necessity of turning that power back against the enablers of such government. Unless we make them feel the burn, they will have no incentive for ceasing their support for big government.

Wasn't it Lincoln who said the quickest way to repeal a bad law was by strict enforcement? Give them all the regulation and force of law they can want. Make them choke on it, and then maybe they will think twice before they conclude that the answer must be "More Government."

I think you're remarkably foolish. I don't want to use unconstitutional government against anyone. I want to DESTROY unconstitutional government.

I think you are remarkably naive if you think that is going to happen without the use of that very weapon they have created. The founders designed the government to balance forces, and it is when those forces are out of balance that the mischief occurs.

They rightly recognized that the public would understand the wheel would turn, and that the out party would eventually become the in party, and so therefore the in party would temper their agenda out of fear of the consequences they would generate for themselves once they become the out party.

Government is tempered by the fear of what would happen if one party became too abusive of the other, and the abused party would be eventually given the opportunity to enact revenge.

Well this is where we are. We need to put the fear of government into the supporters of government. We need to make them *HATE AND DETEST* the idea of an all powerful government which they think they are justified in using as a club to beat their opponents.

Because they will not learn any other way.

Quite the contrary. I understand and utterly, categorically REJECT the idea of using unconstitutional government power for any purpose whatsoever. Indeed, I support only the complete DESTRUCTION of unconstitutional government power.

I think you are remarkably naive if you think that is going to happen without the use of that very weapon they have created.

I think you are absolutely insane if you believe that abusive, unconstitutional government power can be turned to any good purpose at all, even its own destruction. The bloody XX Century (which Lincoln did not live to see) testifies against any mad belief that abusive government 'in the right hands' can be used for good.

I’ve no doubt that you can find pundits and presidential candidates who agree with your thesis.

I have considered it and rejected it, long before even participating in this forum.

All-in-all corporate America is openly rejecting God’s Word.

I suggest getting in touch with these companies and telling them how important is that they respect the Bible.

The states need to pass a law punishing any company doing business in countries where homosexuality is illegal.
