Stephen Fry tells sex abuse victims to 'grow up' prompting social media outrage

Stephen Fry has told sex abuse victims to "grow up" because self-pity is the “ugliest emotion in humanity”, prompting a social media outcry following a US chat interview. The actor, 58, was speaking to chat show host Dave Rubin about the controversial Cecil Rhodes statue at Oriel college, Oxford, which campaigners want removed. And he said some people are becoming too sensitive and criticised those who avoid “trigger words” for fear of controversy.

The former QI presented said: “There are many great plays which contain rapes, and the word rape now is even considered a rape. “They’re terrible things and they have to be thought about, clearly, but if you say you can’t watch this play, you can’t watch Titus Andronicus, or you can’t read it in an English class, or you can’t watch Macbeth because it’s got children being killed in it, it might trigger something when you were young that upset you once, because uncle touched you in a nasty place, well I’m sorry. “It’s a great shame and we’re all very sorry that your uncle touched you in that nasty place – you get some of my sympathy – but your self pity gets none of my sympathy.” He added: “Self pity is the ugliest emotion in humanity. Get rid of it, because no one’s going to like you if you feel sorry for yourself. The irony is we’ll feel sorry for you, if you stop feeling sorry for yourself. Just grow up.”

Following the comments, Fry, who is the president of mental health charity MIND was branded “hypocritical” and “dangerous” by angry social media users.

It’s not that simple
Fry is nutty but he also makes a point

I believe that is a factor as well, but as far as representative of the gay population, I believe it is extremely small.
Stating all gays are ‘born that way’ is complete bs. I believe it to be a combination of factors. Since it is politically incorrect to even bring it up, we’ll never know the causes of being queer.

>I believe that many molestation victims do become gay, because it’s a way to cope, as if what happened to them wasn’t so bad, so they continue by having same-sex relations to minimize what happened in their minds.<

I think you’re right. But, there are those who have been horribly molested as children, who turn to drugs, or suffer a lifetime of mental and emotional torture from the rapes. They may absolutely hate all gays because of their histories.

Thanks for the catch. BTW, how was that murder even possible, when the killers didn’t have any guns?

A piece of his message is true enough.

The problem is, the other parts of his message are completely odious and overshadow any merit the true parts had.

It is as if Stalin said: “Everyone needs to work hard.” So far, so good, everyone can get on board with that. Then he says in the next sentence: “If you cannot work, we will send you to a Gulag to be worked to death or executed outright. And that includes quad amputees, people with any severe mental impairment, etc...”

A genetic tag for homosexuality is the Holy Grail of the homosexual lobby. They want that to be true in the worst way, because it will excuse everything and put it in the same bucket with skin color and sex.

High rate of rape and sexual assault in the gay community.
I’m guessing by his outrage, he is a victim who has been conditioned to think that he has a natural desire for men, rather than the more accurate statement that he was conditioned to acquire the desire by being victimized by another male at a young age.

The Gaystopo is laying the ground work for incest, bestiality and most importantly to them pedophilia to become main stream. Next up the so-called “mental health” area of medicine will begin suggest all this behavior is normal or we are over reacting to the deviants behaviors. The LGBT rainbow shirts are insidious and the epitome of evil

Unfortunately, no matter how hard they try, there has never been any research that actually found a gay gene. There were two ‘researchers’ in the 90’s, that said they independently found a gay gene. No one since has been able to replicate their findings. BTW, both the ‘researchers’ back in the 90’s were gay. And the majority of people only heard their initial claims and that is what most people cling to.......

Exactly. You put water in sewage, you have sewage. You put sewage in water, you have sewage.

I suggest they buy themselves some footy pajamas, make some cocoa, and retreat to the safe space of their parents basement.

Agreed.

Not true, although I agree we allow it to be too often chipped away at.

LOL, a drop of sewage in a bucket of water is enough...no need to make it 95% sewage!

Since Macbeth was king at the time, technically they were employees of the state, so they were entitled to carry guns.

They probably shot Macduff's dog on the way in, too.
