manslaughter? Sounds more like second degree murder to me.

He waited at the scene where he was arrested.

When I tell all of you I have solutions to the problems of this nation, I mean it...but some just simply won't listen or believe.

John Kasich is a Freeper. Who knew?

Would not surprise me. At the moment the NFL is fighting against NC’s public toilet policy.

That’s what the shooter has been charged with.

Yeah that sounded more like the appropriate charge to me.

Lax immigration isn’t his fault?

How about his choice to take advantage of lax immigration enforcement is EXACTLY his fault?

However - I do not mean to insinuate that tempers should have flared and a fight erupt. Handling the issue as you did is best.

But he should have been put on a one-way ticket home as soon as he declined medical care.

From the Times -Picyune:

“Smith was slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle, which appeared to have a gunshot hole in the windshield.”

One question needs an answer;

Was the shooter a legal gun owner?

If not, then every pundit or so called journalist or politician who uses this incident to call for more gun control laws needs to be asked and they need to be made to answer that question. They also need to be made to explain how more gun laws will stop this type of crime.

Either that or they need to be told to STFU.

On January 26th Will Smith tweeted this.......” Wow, 20 murders in 26 days? New Orleans.. Please stop the violence.”

My husband has met Will Smith several times through a mutual friend who played with him at OSU and in the NFL. My husband said you could easily see the goodness in him, just a nice person.

Rule contains a “French Quarter” amendment.

From the photo that I saw, the damage to the vehicles was fairly light. The reactions seem out of proportion to a bump-up at a stoplight. Could this have been spillover from some previous altercation? It just sounds too over the top for that one incident.

Not in New Orleans. At least not in the French Quarter. There are bars in the Irish Channel that are open all night pretty much. If they close at all its for a couple of hours and then open at 7:00 AM.

When I was young, that's when all the good stuff happened.

I worked in a big city ER for many years.I started out on the night shift (midnight to 8AM) and then, when promoted to management,I reviewed reports from the previous day's shifts (all three of them).

Trust me...one night shift spent observing in such an ER will convince you that my Mom was right.

Just a different source to back up what you said.

However, it looks like Smith did a hit-and-run on the Hummer, and a pistol was found in his car. Police aren’t giving out any info about the pistol, like if it was fired or even where it was found.

This could get interesting.

Yeah, I’ve been following it. Not into football myself, but am former New Orleanian and my kids are huge Saints fans.
I can remember a time when the city’s ever-present sense of edginess and danger was part of its charm, but eventually it just crossed a line into not-worth-it-we’re-outta-here.
