Yes, Staten Island is in the NY Archdiocese.

Speaking of Bishop Sheen’s TV program, it’s a thrill to see an old black and white film from the 50’s in which he blasts communism. He was ahead of his times. If you’re interested, you might find some of them at EWTN.com. They showed some as a series a couple of years ago.

If you’d like to pay him a visit, his remains are in the Cardinals/Archbishops’ crypt under the main altar of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. You can go in back of the altar (across from the Lady’s Chapel), look down the stairs and see some of the names. He’s on the verge of being proclaimed a Blessed.

I guess you’d have had to actually been there to see the REAL Merle Haggard. Believe me, what I said is 100% true. I have absolutely nothing to gain by making up stories. Ask anyone that lived in Lakehead, CA at that time and they will confirm my statements.

Granted, that was a long time ago, but putting him on a pedestal for being some great & wonderfully compassionate person is ludicrous and a far distance from the truth.
