Ted Cruz and Pastors Smite Donald Trump in Wisconsin
The Daily Beast ^ | March 6, 2016 | Betsy Woodruff

On Tuesday night, Christians saved Ted Cruz.

The Texan made winning Wisconsin look easy, waltzing to a double-digit victory in the Badger State and all but guaranteeing that the Republican Party will pick its nominee at a contested convention in Cleveland this summer.

But Tuesday’s result was not predestined—and it wasn’t just a series of unforced errors that made the Trump Train sputter. The Cruz team pulled off a singular organizing feat, corralling a sizable number of Christian pastors for last-minute endorsements that helped shore up his support among evangelical Christians.

In February, Cruz suffered a tough defeat to Donald Trump in South Carolina, in large part because evangelicals—to the bafflement of many—were eager to line up behind the thrice-wed casino magnate.

In Wisconsin, though, that didn’t happen. CNN exit polling indicates that Cruz beat Trump among evangelical Christian voters by a whopping 21 points. And moving those numbers took work.

California is very much within reach for Cruz and obviously it is the largest prize remaining.

Not much discussed is how Cruz consistently outperforms his polls while Trump continues to underperform his.

Trump has been very good at hyping his own campaign and polls.

That is starting to subside and if people will look honestly they will see that Cruz has an honest strong ground games that has made him the only candidate that can really stand up to the bluster of Trump.

Actually, the Milwaukee area Democrat vote-factory smote Trump last night.

It wasn't vote fraud, erkelly & BlackFemaleArmyCaptain - it was an open primary, and the Dem machine apparently wants to go up against Cruz, the Unipatsy.

Be of good cheer, and read this:

The WI Democrat voting machine put its thumb on the scales in the Milwaukee area counties.

The numbers are clear - I just looked up the primary numbers on both sides for the 2008, 2012 & 2016 Wisconsin primaries.

See my posts #1490, #1565 & #1573 on the thread Live Thread--Wisconsin Primary--Tuesday, April 5, 2016

Trump won most of the counties but lost to the heavily populated area which are the establishment. Trump was not expected to win here since the GOPe, Rush, Fox, and most of the MSM put on a heavy kill on Trump. Won't work anymore since this is a wake up call to Trump to better organizes the ground work better. He can do it since he works more with the people. Wisconsin was a joke.

On April 19th, Ted Cruz will join Kasich, Rubio, Bush, Carson, Fiorina, Huckabee, and Paul who are mathematically eliminated from getting 1237 delegates by the convention.

Then voter nullification of the largest voting block becomes Ted' only route to the nomination.

Voter nullification... Ted Cruz, little man on campus.

It only serves to keep people agitated with stupid headlines like that.

It's a sneak-preview of what will come if by some miracle Cruz actually starts catching up with Trump. The MSM will paint Cruz as a religious fanatic who will ban abortion, outlaw homosexuality and force everyone to be born again Christians.

The left, the media, the GOP and the establishment all know that in about 3 days time they can convince about 80% of the population that Cruz is crazier than the Westboro Baptist Church. They just need to wait for the right time to begin... once they're sure Trump is no longer a concern.

Evangelical Christians are hardly monolithic. Within this camp, the same theological and cultural divisions that characterize Protestantism in general exist. Evangelicals in Wisconsin tend to be in the conservative Lutheran denominations. In fact, the most conservative larger Lutheran denomination in America is the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. Americans of German descent, who are the largest ethnic group in the state, lean toward this group as well as the conservative Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, while Scandinavian Americans tend to favor the more liberal Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. There is some conservative Reformed presence, due to Dutch settlers of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, similar to Iowa and Michigan. The Badger State also has an active charismatic presence.

This is a notable contrast with the South and lower Midwest, with the dominance of Southern Baptists and independent Bible churches, similar to Baptists but more Calvinistic in theology. Conservative Lutherans and most conservative Reformed believers hold to amillennialism, believing that the Rapture and the end times will be at the actual end of human history, rather than an interval between the present world and the millennial kingdom. A faction of charismatics believe in the "kingdom now" theory or postmillenialism, believing that the church will usher in the millennial kingdom. The "kingdom now" theory is where Ted Cruz's father stands.

Look at recent primary history. Ted Cruz's strongest counties in Iowa were in the western portion of that state, where conservative Dutch Reformed believers are prevalent. He did well in southwest Michigan, an area with similar demographics. Another strong area for him was southwest Missouri, around Springfield, the denominational headquarters for the Assemblies of God.

So it is not surprising for Cruz to have done better among Northern evangelicals than was the case in the South, excluding Texas and Oklahoma. However, the remaining states do not have a strong evangelical presence.

Spoken from a person that supports a man that supports killing babies and selling their body parts.
That pimps out his then girlfriend to score a GQ interview for himself.
That supports a staffer that has a history of assault.
That has gotten in bed with the mob.
That has been, and is being sued for fraud.
That tries to steal houses from old ladies.
That is the nastiest, lying, self centered, classless man that has ever run for president.

Look in the mirror and judge thyself. I’m just fine with God.

“I heard there were tons of vote fraud.”

Just imagine how big Cruz’s win would have been without all the vote fraud!

All I know is that the last Republican to win Wisconsin was Ronald Reagan. Their home boy Paul Ryan couldn’t even carry the state as VP in 2012.

Denial is a sad thing. Neither one of them is walking into Cleveland with 1,237. That dream is effectively dead. For Trump to pull it off, GOP voters would need to start strongly coalescing around him and he’d need to start substantially over-performing the polls. He’d need to absolutely run the table on all of the remaining contests. Not happening. He’ll likely do well in New York and nearby states, but he’s not going to blow the doors off IN, NE and the western states. He’s consistently under-performing, and it’s become clear that his real base turned out to be white Southerners who preferred him to Cruz and Rubio. Unfortunately for him, the South has already voted.
