Obamaphone expands to Obama-Internet, with little thought of cost, abuse
The Washington Times ^ | April 1, 2016 | Kelly Riddell

Remember the Obamaphone?

"Everybody in Cleveland have got Obamaphone, keep Obama as president, you know?" said Michelle Dowery, an Obama supporter at a 2012 Mitt Romney event, which went viral at the time. "He gave us a phone, he's going to do more ... You sign up, you on food stamps, you on Social Security, you got no income, you got disability."

Mr. Obama has indeed done more.

The Federal Communications Commission agreed Thursday to expand the Obamaphone, dubbed the LifeLine Program, to include high-speed Internet access. By doing so, the cost of the program will increase by 50 percent, without any efforts to reduce spending elsewhere, or clamp down on the program’s waste, fraud and abuse.

I don’t get anything for free. Probably because I contribute to society, work hard, and pay my taxes. For such transgressions, they squeeze me dry and give me nothing. Maybe I should smarten up and be a parasite.

That was especially funny, because if anyone was “in president” it was Reggie.

Coward-Piven. Much thought has been given to cost and abuse, and it is believed that the highest possible costs of the most widespread abuse will hasten the goal of overload and collapse.

Personally, I believe if there is a govt program that gives away a good (ie: cars, phones, roofing, windows, refrigerators, microwaves, tvs, internet, clothing, food, etc...) then EVERY taxpayer should be able to write off any similar personal expenses.

This would encourage more local spending and allow people to provide for themselves before providing the funds thru which dems buy votes.

I know... the fedgov will never allow it... they like to maintain the power to decide what to do with your money

I was in the local library about a year ago, and a son of Obama was sitting at a public computer gleefully recording porn to his cell phone, in view of everyone.

The librarian was nearby in a heated discussion with several people, making it clear she did not feel she could intervene.

The cost might, but if Congress had any backbone, the BUDGET wouldn't. So yomama could pay for his giveaways out of his own pocket, or the gimmedats could go whistle.

I once got into an argument with a woman in a game chat, after she had mentioned that she was on food stamps. I wondered how she could have a computer, Internet access, AND enough money to pay $15/month for her gaming account, but still get food stamps. She turned around and starting telling me she has a "right" to relax, and that I was trying to deny her freedom of speech.

Clearly, she was a college-educated liberal parasite...

***************

The "they" you refer to includes the Republicans we elect to congress who promise us smaller government but always fund the expansion of it. They are happy to waste your tax dollars just as much as the Democrats are. Its high time we boot these big spending liars out of congress.

Mao Tse Tung started a literacy program to facilitate propaganda.

this is the same.

the government thinks that people who shoot down government programs online are upper income people and if they can provide connectivity to the poorest, then these will be strong voices on behalf of government programs.

Obamanet is like Obamacare. Costs are shifted to regular, employed customers. Non-program rate payers are surcharged to subsidize program recipients. Who makes out the most? The communications companies who get new, permanent customers.

Socialism.

Was not in my library system.

My rule in my branches is that if you can see it on the beach, it’s probably ok, but, otherwise we tell (politely) the person to leave or we get the police involved.

99 times out of 100 they leave right away.

At another branch in our system, where there is usually some kind of police presents at all times, the just get banned, but, that’s if the officer catches them. The staff know what they have to do.
