Trump Wins GOP Straw Poll in DE (72% Trump)

Donald Trump wins this week's GOP Straw Poll in Delaware.

This week the Sussex County Republican Party held its Presidential Primary "straw poll" at the GOP Headquarters in Georgetown. While the turn-out was moderate, the results were very interesting.

Donald Trump won the poll with 72-percent of the vote; coming in second was Ted Cruz with 21- percent of the vote, followed by John Kasich with 7-percent.

The format and names on the Straw Poll ballots duplicated that of the sample ballot provided by the State Election Office in Georgetown. They included the names of Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, and Marco Rubio, but no one voted for those candidates.

County GOP Chairman Billy Carroll says he's very pleased by the enthusiasm and interest shown by the voters; he says Republicans are eager for the primary on April 26 and are ready to support the GOP candidate in November.

The OP repeats the nebulous "Lyin' Ted" mantra but you see no problem with that.

I point to something specific where Trump lied about a statement calling Cruz dishonest, knows he lied, then lied again. But somehow my posting is misleading. Got it.

Why did Donald repeat the "total fabrication" even after he knew it was a lie?

Perhaps Trump knows that Cruz only speaks the language "Lie"... LOL! :)

Trump was speaking to his supporters at those times. Are you implying something about Trump's supporters?

You pick a piece of lint, off miles of carpet, and try and blow it up like the big bad wolf. Ted Cruz speaks and it is a perversion of 'time for a truth'.... Cruz is a pathological liar.

I live in PA, on my local news they said 2600 Dems switched to Rep so far...The avg in prior years was only 200...Trump has massive support in Northeast PA. A lot of the local politicians are actually supporting him here.

16 delegates, winner take all, Trump wins them, Cruz makes sure that all the delegates are secretly on HIS team...

Maybe not. Trump has hired Paul Manafort who is widely perceived as huge plus in the unpledged delegate war.

Put this in perspective; There are three counties in Delaware: New Castle, Sussex and Kent. This was the Sussex county vote. In Delaware, New Castle County determines winners. While Sussex and Kent counties are Conservative, New Castle County is GOPe. GOPe in Delaware openly hates Conservatives. They will vote Democrat before they’ll support a Conservative.

2600 switched in my county alone is what I meant to say, just realized it sounded like I was referencing the entire state...

Trump will recover from Wisconsin - may even pick up a few delegates-

I absolutely agree. Wisconsin is a very unusual state in that talk radio has a huge hold on it and they're uniformly anti-Trump - apparently because they don't think he's a true conservative. The foolish irony in that is that they all rooted for Mitt Romney, the formerly pro-abortion, pro-gay, pro-big government healthcare, etc, candidate rather than choose someone more conservative like Rick Santorum.

Additionally, Scott Walker in his weakness has endorsed Cruz. And Trump's brash approach probably doesn't sell as well in Wisconsin where people tend to be more 'polite' (Minnesota is similar to this and resoundingly rejected Trump in the caucus there). It makes it a steep uphill climb for Trump. But Trump has a few things going for him there, not the least of which is that it is an open primary where Dems and independents can vote. I don't feel very good about Trump's chances in WI at the moment but that could change! I would also be very surprised if Trump doesn't take a few delegates in WI, too. And I wish people would be more down to earth about WI - there's only 42 delegates at stake - not exactly an earth-shattering number.

Cruz supporters are so predictable. When Ted wins a small state or a caucus state its emblematic of his large appeal and proof that we must support his candidacy. When Trump is ahead in small states they are meaningless. Even better is that whenever Trump is ahead in a moderate or liberal state, they outright dismiss it with their snarky comments that Trump’s a liberal or that of course a liberal state backs Trump. All the while not comprehending that Trump will rack up delegates there. Delegates that their candidate would need to demonstrate he’s competitive and not a fringe candidate.

I keep hearing that Cruz is going to sweep the rest of the states after Wisconsin and win the primary outright.

As usual, Cruz isn't being honest about his campaign's future. He may luck it out in WI, but he's in very dire condition in the Northeast where voters won't like his hardline style. I don't agree with those that think WI will be a game-changer. Iowa sure wasn't.

Lyin' Ted better enjoy Wisconsin while he has a chance!

Did he already win there or are you conceding it on Trump's behalf?

JUDGE NAPOLITANO AND RUSH BOTH SAY ITS OVER FOR TRUMP

ONLY THING IS EVERY CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATE WOULD ENFORCE THE ABORTION LAW IF IT WAS CHANGED BY CONGRESS.

TRUMP SHOULDN’T HAVE BEEN ON THE HARDBALL MATTHEWS SHOW, BUT THAT ANSWER IS RIGHT

Every ad I see in Wisconsin is anti-Trump. Well, except the ones that are from him. Trump’s tell us what he will do. Cruz’ ads simply say he can stop Trump, not what he can do other than that. smh
