Obama says nuclear terrorist attack would ‘change our world’
Washington Post ^ | April 1, 2016 | Josh Lederman and Darlene Superville | AP

President Barack Obama said Friday that the world faces a persistent and evolving threat from terrorists who are eager to unleash a devastating nuclear attack. “It would change our world,” he said.

Hosting his last nuclear security summit, said the world has measurably reduced the risk of nuclear terrorism by taking “concrete, tangible steps.” He said no terrorists have thus far obtained nuclear material, and he praised recent moves by Argentina, Switzerland and Uzbekistan for getting rid of their stockpiles of highly enriched uranium.

Still, Obama said, the prospect of the Islamic State group or other extremists getting a weapon remains “one of the greatest threats to global security.” He pointed out that IS had already used chemical weapons and that al-Qaida has long sought nuclear material.

“There is no doubt that if these mad men ever got their hands on a nuclear bomb or nuclear material, they would certainly use it to kill as many people as possible,” Obama said.

LOL, I hadn’t seen it put that way before, but yes, you are correct.

Is this a bad time to mention that the “failed” Nork missile launch put a satellite in polar orbit at 311.6 miles and 312 is the optimum height for an EMP burst?

Is there ever a good time to mention that?

Yikes

Make fun of me if you want, but there have been several breaches at nuclear power plants both here and abroad!

Washington State just had “issues,” causing a shutdown...

Bad stuff is afoot and jocular naiveté may just get someone killed as opposed to saved.

Wasn’t.

I just spent every dollar I had in my wallet and most of the change in my car’s ashtray because of this headline.

Not joking.

If there was a nuke attack by a terrorist tomorrow, they still wouldn’t hold Obama accountable. If anything, they would say Donald Trump’s “rhetoric” is to blame. These people will never be on our side.

And the Ministry of Truth would be hysterically wailing about the possibility of “Islamophobia”.

Haha! Yes, and they’d inevitably tell us this situation calls for more gun control.

The green light starts flashing two weeks after the 2017 inauguration, when the Mombasa moonbeam is unwinding in Hawaii.

It’d be mighty nice to move our portable radar system to cover the hole in our southern air defense...

He didn’t say what he’d do if NK or Iran nuke us first - or do an EMP attack, though I guess that could be called an effective cyber attack, in which case Obama wouldn’t retaliate...

Open invitation.

And yes, I think it’s time for people to stock up on necessities. Anything could happen at any time.

Exactly. And brought to our world by Barack Hussein Obama and the Corker Bill, with Iran getting $150 billion dollars.

WHAT could possibly go wrong?
