Leftist Heads Explode Over ‘Anti-Muslim’ Terrorism Thriller (London Has Fallen)

The great majority of movie reviewers lean far left politically, so when they sneeringly dismiss a new Hollywood action thriller as terror exploitation, racist, jingoistic, terror porn, outrageously propagandistic, anti-Muslim xenophobia and the perfect movie for Donald Trumps America, then you can take that as a strong recommendation for getting to the cinema.
The Gerard Butler action vehicle London Has Fallen opened recently and reviewers are panning it as brutal, cheesy, implausible, and clichéd. Apparently those reviewers are unfamiliar with the genre or feel it is beneath them, because it is generally the nature of action thrillers to be brutal, cheesy, implausible, and clichéd. Moviegoers arent drawn to action thrillers for their slice-of-life realism or cinematic aesthetics; they want a two-hour dose of escapist adrenalin, an action-packed, over-the-top fun ride, and on that score London Has Fallen satisfies. The audience I saw it with on opening day applauded at the end.

The article is dated March 22, 2016 which is yesterday. It makes no reference to the terrorist attacks on in Brussels yesterday morning even as an addendum. Obviously it was written and edited before the attacks and put on the
frontpagemag.com just after midnight EDT when most websites in the US publish stories. It's amazing how precient this article is. As one commenter stated yesterday, "The news will Trump these film reviewers biases."

I hate implausibility. Imagine a plot where POTUS is a Muslim, DCI is a Muslim, the SecState gives Iran the greenlight on the Bomb--I could go on, but who would believe it?

Yes, the Hollywood types couldn’t stand to ‘discriminate’ against moslem terrorists.
Plus ca change, plus c’est la meme chose.

Hollywood likes to change the bad guy into their own pet boogey men.
In Runaway Jury, the bad guys were big Tobacco. In the movie they were the gun industry.

Yes - I was a little disappointed that Dustin Hoffman threw in his lot with them.

I'll probably skip the movie; not because of the subject matter but because Gerard Butler does tend to make cheezy action movies.
Olympus Has Fallen reminded me a lot of Vince Flynn's first Mitch Rapp adventure -
Transfer of Power. Butler's line about "whatever ****-istan you're from" reminds me of an exchange from one of Daniel Silva's Gabriel Allon novels. There are many spy novels out there that have predicted the types of attacks we're seeing now. I guess the leftists never read those books or see those movies and dismiss them all as trash.
Instead of making "propaganda" like London Has Fallen, they'd rather make "mainstream" entertainment like Brokeback Mountain and The Danish Girl.

rktman :" Hmmm. I was informed that ethnicity can classify your race now. Who knew? Uh, BS! "
EXACTLY !
Let's say that purple people, wearing a yellow handkerchief ( like urban gang's colors) made a war against us .
Common Sense says you check out all purple people , regardless of which color handkerchief they wore , because it is so easy to remove the handkerchief and create subterfuge .
So it is the same with the Islamic Terrorists gangs who are supported emotionally, financially, and strategically by other members of the same gang ,
but they aren't now wearing their handkerchiefs (colors), but support the terrorists just the same.

I thought Olympus Has Fallen was a great movie. I was unable to suspend my belief enough to enjoy the plot and the dialog was forgettable.
Still two out of three of my must haves for a movie of that type. Guns and explosions. No spaceships. Two out of five stars.

Then there are those that “self identify” with another race despite NOT being that race. But hey, as long as they FEEL that way................

Same for traditionally-published, prize-winning books, most of which have myriad reviews that boil down to “unreadable”.

These are the same people who fawned over the film about the assassination of George W. Bush.......a sitting President when the film was released.
Just think of how they’d react to a similar film about the Bronco Bama.

I’ve said Here for a long time, that Hollywood could film
the highest grossing movie ever by doing a story
about your typical dis-functional American family
fighting for their lives in a Islamic terror attack
coming together as a family and as proud Americans
and taking the scum down hard.
But, NOOOOOOOOOOOOO. That’s not the narrative...we get.
Hell, they could throw in a moderate muslim or two who
join them to save both their families and other innocent
Americans as an encouragement to others.
Again, nooooooooo.
