American College of Pediatricians: Gender Ideology Harms Children
CNS News ^ | March 16, 2016 | Penny Starr

The American College of Pediatricians issued a position statement last month entitled “Gender Ideology Harms Children,” which will be followed by a peer-reviewed statement on the subject that’s expected to be released by summer, the college told CNSNews.com.

“The American College of Pediatricians urges educators and legislators to reject all policies that condition children to accept as normal a life of chemical and surgical impersonation of the opposite sex,” the statement issued on Feb. 2 stated. “Facts – not ideology – determine reality.”

The statement – written by Dr. Michelle A. Cretella, president of the American College of Pediatricians, Dr. Quentin Van Meter, vice president of the American College of Pediatricians and a pediatric endocrinologist, and Dr. Paul McHugh, university distinguished service professor of psychiatry at Johns Hopkins Medical School and the former psychiatrist in chief at Johns Hopkins Hospital – cites eight reasons why “gender ideology” instead of treatment based on biological facts is harmful to children.

It makes me wonder if the pediatricians might actually look at facts about firearms.

They have not done so in the past.

I was always taught in my psychology classes it’s unhealthy to entertain the mentally ill individuals delusions. That’s exactly what we seem to be doing with the LGBTQWERTYAFLCIOMOUSE crowd.

I am the oldest of six kids (in 11 years), and helped Mom change diapers from the time I was 3.

I had NO trouble telling the difference between girls and boys.

WHAT, exactly is so difficult for people to understand? LOL!

Just did a quick check of their website...."Marriage Matters"?...the healthiest children are from families where there's a (female) mother *and* a (male) father? And now this latest announcement?

This organization had better employ bomb sniffing dogs around their headquarters 24/7!

I am moderately surprised. So often these professional associations are nothing but mouthpieces for leftist ideology.

McHugh has been fighting this fight publicly for a lot longer than Trump has been around the political scene. I predict Trump will ignore it. Please come back and buzz me if I’m wrong.

Important note: The American College of Pediatricians (ACoP) is the “conservative” pediatric association, which was formed by a former president of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), when that organization was taken over by leftists solely interested in the leftist agenda, not caring for children.

So, the ACoP is “conservative” because it focuses on pediatrics, not leftist politics.

While this could sound like exaggeration, it isn’t. A good example is how the AAP said that pediatricians are “ethically required” to ask children and their parents about any guns in their home, to discourage gun ownership, and to equate guns with bad parenting and even endangerment of children. Importantly, to annotate this gun ownership in the children’s medical record, where because of HIPAA and HITECH Act, dozens of government agencies would instantly know that the family owned guns. Implied was even the suggestion that parents who owned guns be prohibited from adopting children.

This was such a repulsive act that the state of Florida passed a law prohibiting doctors from making such inquiries. The AAP sued the state, claiming that such a law “interfered with the Pediatricians first amendment rights, and the doctor patient privilege.” (A similar argument used by abortionists.)

After winning in lower federal courts, the decision, Wollschlaeger v. Florida was reversed by the 11th Circuit.

So the same doctors that say being queer is no longer a mental illness are telling us that it’s okay if boys are boys and girls are girls?

No wonder the medical profession is held in such high esteem.

I think when parents do this it is more likely to be Munchhausen by Proxy. Look at me, look at me! My child has gender dysphoria. It’s BS and the doctors should be trained enough to see it.

Munchhausen syndrome by Proxy - nothing less. Adults projecting their mental disability on their kids. It should be something that compels psychiatric consultation. If a “parent’ starts mentioning their kid is gender confused - the parent needs to spend a few sessions on the couch.

Unfortunately, this declaration was by the American College of Pediatricians rather the American Pediatric Society.

The APS is the mainstream professional group of pediatricians. The ACP is a socially conservative group of pediatricians who are correctly disturbed by the growing popularity of insane LGBTQRSXYZ ideology.

A friend of mine on Facebook recently applauded the bravery of a mother and father in “transitioning” their seven-year-old. Hundreds of “Likes” and positive comments. Poor kid.

I watched a few episodes of “I Am Jazz”, a show on TLC (we were staying in a hotel with limited choices of channels while house shopping). It was about a young middle school boy who his parents insist has identified as a girl from toddlerhood. He has always been allowed to dress as a girl - hair, make up, nail polish and real girls as friends. He is under a doctor’s care where he takes various drugs to hold off puberty. When asked if he would have surgery to remove his genitals, though, he was ambivalent. He was sad that he couldn’t find a boyfriend who was “okay” with his condition. I felt so sad for him and angry with his parents for their complacency.

I’m right there with you! Recently a local talk radio host (very liberal, btw) allowed a “father” to boast of how he is managing his 20 something daughter’s porn career. And of course the host saw nothing wrong with it. Heaven help us!
