Protests and civil disobedience is a tough one to judge.
I think people are sick of people protesting stupid stuff and expecting to get their way because they are protesting.

I attended a hearing where an outside big corporation was trying to take over a local utility paying a guaranteed price to utility stockholders. Since they have a lot of obsolete power plants the locals will be charged higher utility rates. This will especially hurt poor and elderly people. There were a whole bunch of poor people in the hearing audience wearing identical shirts and carrying identical signs supporting the big corp. I asked one why they were supporting a company that would raise their rates, he said because they paid me $15. Dumb!!

Freedom of speech does not include blocking people’s movements or preventing commerce from occurring. That’s criminal trespass or criminal battery. Under certain circumstances a reason to shoot if they don’t immediately cease and desist. In a saner age, it would be applauded, with perhaps a quick hearing to validate ones actions
