Ted Cruz: Donald Trump is ‘scared to debate’
Washington Times ^ | March 17, 2016 | David Sherfinski

Posted on 03/18/2016 9:07:24 AM PDT by reaganaut1

Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas says GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump is scared to debate and that Mr. Trump looks down on voters, counting on them to believe whatever he tells them.

Mr. Trump, citing a prior commitment to speak at a policy conference hosted by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), said Wednesday he would not be attending the GOP presidential debate that had been scheduled for March 21 but was ultimately cancelled.

“His excuse is silliness, and it reflects his assumption that he thinks the voters can’t figure out that he’s not telling [them] the truth,” Mr. Cruz said on Wednesday evening’s “The Kelly File” on Fox News.

Mr. Cruz pointed out that the conference hosted by AIPAC is a multi-day event — it runs from Sunday to Tuesday — and Mr. Trump’s schedule would likely have been accommodated.

“He chose to speak right in the middle of the debate [because] he’s scared to debate,” Mr. Cruz said.

“And, you know, he just, he looks down on the voters,” Mr. Cruz said. “He thinks they’re gullible and will believe whatever he’s saying. So I’m going to be in D.C. for AIPAC as well since Donald is running away from the debate. I’m happy to debate him there. If he wants, we can debate foreign policy, but the problem is, Donald doesn’t do very well in foreign policy [because] he doesn’t have even a basic modicum of knowledge.”

Mr. Cruz said he’s happy to debate Mr. Trump in Utah, where the Fox News debate was to be held, or Washington, D.C., or anywhere else.

Complaining about debates make him Look weak. Ted was offered an exclusive town hall at Fox in lieu of the cancelled debate. He refused and instead he chose to chase Trump at AIPAC. This is yet another tactical error.

This something Glenn Beck would do.

“Trump: “Look my penis isn’t small, it’s YUUUUGE!..okay..”
“You’re a loser!” That’s the Trump debate prowess in a nut shell.

Pretty much.

And his disastrous performances are why Trump is scared.

Cruz is not a Bushie. He broke that connection ten years ago, by your own chronology. No he does not have the establishment behind him. The evidence is seen in their unwillingness to rally behind him even now when it is clad that Kasich is going no where. They prefer even Trump over Cruz.

He could also explain that part of the Constitution that gives him the authority to steal people’s property through eminent domain and give it to his cronies.
First someone with an ounce of brains would have to explain how HE stole anyone's property...

You people seem to think Cruz is the expert on the Constitution. It was the experts on the Constitution in the Supreme court (not Trump) that made the eminent domain decision...

I suggest if you want Cruz to debate anyone regarding the Constitution he should start with the people who really bastardize the Constitution...The Supreme Court.

wait what. So cruz was offered his hour chance in a town hall from FOX and he refused it and now he’s going to AIPAC to chase Trump.
I did not know that.

Who the hell advises cruz as he needs to fire them. His campaign has all been about a certain few voting for him and telling others to get out of the race.

I know, after getting his arse whooped 12 times, I understand why Trump is scared.

It’s a smart move to run away for Trump.

Bullies do that when cornered.

I’m amused to the point of hilarity at the braying of all the trumpeters who are just as afraid as Trump at a one on one debate. Reading the comments here is a hoot. I thought drinking the kool-aid would just kill someone, didn’t realize it would make one certifiable. Y’all are a trip.

Why are trumpfolx afraid of a 1-on-1 with Cruz? Shouldn’t the voters be able to hear the top two’s platforms with all the shenanigans of the has-beens not sludging up the debate of actual ISSUES? Trump has made numerous policy reversals lately, shouldn’t have the chance to explain hischanges of heart?

“HEWITT: Of the three legs of the triad, though, do you have a priority? I want to go to Senator Rubio after that and ask him.”

I'm fine Trump isn't a policy wonk. But what the hell kind of question is this? Which of the three legs get a priority?

“Let me encourage other members of the establishment: Keep supporting Donald Trump because every time you do it, what it is doing is telling conservatives all over the country is where you stand and who stands with you”.

“Cruz is quickly becoming POS material.”

If he keeps it up he’ll have positions like:

“The Republicans walk the NRA line and refuse even limited restrictions.....I support the ban on assault weapons and I support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun.”

“I’m a conservative on most issues but a liberal on health. It is an unacceptable but accurate fact that the number of uninsured Americans has risen to 42 million. Working out detailed plans will take time. But the goal should be clear: Our people are our greatest asset. We must take care of our own. We must have universal healthcare. “

“I’m “fine” with affirmative action.”

I am not sure how old you are, but the way you keep saying the same thing which is your opinion doe snot make it true or a fact.

Facts, look at them as I have given you them.

That’s right. I watch Cruz attempting to sound like Lincoln or George Washington giving a speech and I want to vomit. Parsing every word with a political sermon like tone.

Phony to the bone.

I don’t think he could keep the notes straight in his head. Besides, he would probably flip flop on two or three other issues as he belched his answer on that one.
