Senate Democratic Minority Leader Harry Reid refuses to say why for months he has blocked a bipartisan bill designed to ensure inspectors general access all of the official documents they need to fight waste, fraud and abuse in the federal government.
Three months ago, the Nevada senator blocked an attempt to pass Republican Sen. Chuck Grassleys IG Empowerment Act with unanimous consent, which would make it crystal clear that the 1978 Inspector General Act gives presidentially appointed IGs authority to access all agency records for investigations and audits.
Reid still refuses to change his position or explain his objections. A spokesman for Reid did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundations requests for an explanation of Reids opposition to the bill. The measure is co-sponsored by Democratic senators Tammy Baldwin and Claire McCaskill
I cannot imagine anything controversial about wanting inspectors general to have access to the people and documents they need to do their jobs for the American people, Republican Sen. Ron Johnson ,another co-sponsor of the bill and chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs, told The DCNF.

I can, Fast and Furious, Bengazi, etc.
Not that baffling. Obviously there is some thing or things Reid wants to keep hidden.
Obviously Reid, the most shameless member of Congress, is doing the bidding of a powerful someone (Oh, who could it be?) who feels threatened by IGs doing their duty.
You can if you’re that slimey little weasle.
And yet the government wants access to every part of our lives — email, cell phone history, browsing history.
....it’s not baffling, it’s $$$$$$$$$, and it’s very easy
Why shouldn’t Harry Reid do whatever in the world he wants?
He knows the corrupt, inept, and stupid GOPe Congress is not going to do a thing to fight back.
Why is anyone merely hand-wringing over this? If unanimous consent isn’t possible, then bring it to the floor for a vote and put everyone on record.
This is McConnell’s call, and it is precisely why he, along with Boehner and Rove, are the personification(s) of the reasons behind the Trump phenomenon.
Here is a crazy idea, bring it up for a vote
Only a fool carries the rope to his own hanging.
Despicable as he is, Reid is no fool.

Maybe the “exercise equipment” beating was a warning not to let this bill become law.
If this weasel is doing anything, you know it is in furtherance of something illegal or immoral.
