Refusing to Support GOP Candidates
Vanity | 3/17/16 | VMIVol00

Posted on 03/17/2016 3:59:32 PM PDT by vmivol00

First off, I should state that I believe either Trump or Cruz would make an outstanding President. I am so absolutely disgusted by the abhorrent, selfish, childish behavior of the GOP in regards to who gets the nomination. This has nothing to do with if Trump/Cruz is conservative enough or not, and everything to do with power. If this were simply an issue of political leanings (being a true conservative) the same cast of characters would never support an Olympia Snow, Jeff Flake, Kelly Ayotte, Susan Collins, etc. It is a blatant grab to preserve the status quo for a totally corrupt party and party leadership.

Many here and everywhere else are overlooking the fact that the majority of GOP power brokers will keep their jobs and all the benefits of power regardless of if the GOP candidate wins or loses. They have very little incentive to win. In fact the only way they could lose their grip on power is if someone who isn’t like minded wins and gives them the boot. They have no incentive for winning and plenty of incentive to preserve the status quo.

This isn’t as simple as thinking they (the GOP) want to win. If they can win with their vetted guy...great. If not, that’s ok too. What they can’t have happen is to have an outsider under their banner win. That threatens their gravy train.

Here is my bottom line... if the GOP makes any attempt to steal the nomination from whatever candidate has the most delegates, I will refuse to vote for or support ANY GOP candidate at ANY level. It may seem drastic and hurtful to some good candidates...but enough is enough. Nothing can be fixed unless all of the current GOP turds are flushed from elected and party positions.

Am I wrong here? Who is with me?

The screeching and gnashing of teeth are because the devils see the gravy spigot to their feed trough, and someone is coming to turn it off.

They must fight to their last dying breath, which I hope to witness.

Calling the GOP turds or scum is unfair to both.
The GOP is the lowest of the low.
They lie to their voters.
They push the creator of ObamaCARE and gruber America
by LYING claiming he was not.
They attack their own candidates CHOSEN BY THE PEOPLE.

The LYING GOP kept ObamaCARE and themselves EXEMPT,
and then passed ObamaTRADE, funded Iran and al QAEDA
and kept the borders open as America has been attacked.

The LYING GOP deserve to be removed and replaced
by honest people. Every single one.

They forgot that to win elections, you actually need to get votes. Money does not matter if the votes don't come in.

Your 100% right. I’ve always believed that if a man with an “r” behind his name does nothing while his party insults it’s base, that man is part of the problem.

I hate it when they say “I’m only one person.” The fight has to start somewhere. When Boner was jerking the tea party candidates around they should have called a press conference and announced they would caucus with the democrats. That would have made the establishment take notice.

I will vet the candidates on other levels on their own merits. If I cannot vote for one of them I will do a write in vote for the best living candidate in the past few campaigns.

Not much of a one for knee-jerk reactions, but refusal to support the uniparty is in no way, shape, or form, a knee-jerk reaction.

You understand it. It’s about power and money, the control of the GOP machinery. The GOP establishment and their hangers on are consumed with that, and not what is good for the country.

I'm not as extreme as you. I would vote for someone who endorsed no one or endorsed Trump. My local rep has a problem. After years of whining that the "conservatives" couldn't increase money to the towns because of Kasich, she endorsed him! Senator Portman endorsed Kasich. These folks should have stayed out of it and let the voters decide.

I suspect that if the elitists don't pretend we live in a system of representative government and let the people decide, only a small handful will be elected on local and state levels.

SO WHAT. If we lose our right to choose, the US doesn't have a chance to turn things around. We might as well have a barking dog at the helm.

Shame on you. You have me ranting.

Never forget that the GOPe is made up of cowards... the go along get alongers. I think this GOPe third party candidate idea is so much hot air. In the end the donors will realize that Trump is likely to beat Hillary no matter what the GOPe does. They won’t want to be cut out of any deal making with a Trump Administration. They’ll tell Ryan and the rest of the GOPe to go back to their milk bones.

Exactly, and there will be prison sentences for some, to send a message, as a result.

How do you define steal?

It would be stealing to give the nomination to the guy who had the “most” delegates but not a majority, because the rules say that’s not how it works.

If you don’t go in with the majority of the delegates you have to earn them before you can win at the convention. Reagan and Ford fought for them in 1976.

You know... I think at least 25% of Trump’s delegates will not vote for him after the initial vote. I would guess that if he doesn’t go to the convention with enough delegates he will not be the nominee. It will be Cruz or Kasich. Trump needs that 1,235 number.

Quite possible.
After that it’s a train wreck.

At least we won’t have to worry about discussing politics on FR, just guns, CWII stuff, etc....

I probably will hold my nose and vote for Cruz, but he would lose against Hillary. He doesn’t bring cross-over voters and moderates will either sit at home or vote Hillary.
