We all know a Trump pulled a Romney and changed his public positions to more conservative shortly before he began a run for national office.
In all fairness, Trump gave his opinion on gun control 22 years ago based on information available at the time.
New York was at it's lowest point under the darkest days of Democrat mayor David Dinkins and gun and gang violence was out of control in New York City
The New York miracle turn around under Mayor Rudy Guliani was still years off and people were at loss on how to solve what seemed to an unsolvable problem
Consider the AWB as failed experiment in solving the root causes of gun violence and one that all Americans can learn from.
The Assault Weapon ban was a total failure - a fact proven beyond any doubt.
On a positive note, the Clinton gun control legislation also provided the hard statistics to prove that guns in the hands of law abiding citizens reduce crime and do not contribute to gun violence.
If candidate Trump says he is now pro Second Amendment and will appoint judges who agree with and support 2nd rights if elected, I believe him.
