Ted Cruz: Donald Trump sees protesters as disloyal people who must be punished
Washington Times ^ | March 14, 2016 | David Sherfinski

Posted on 03/14/2016 10:13:32 AM PDT by Pinkbell

Sen. Ted Cruz said Monday that GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump views protesters as disloyal people worthy of punishment and that the best response to Mr. Trump is to defeat him at the ballot box, reiterating his own pledge to support the eventual Republican nominee in the fall.

Mr. Cruz re-upped criticism of Mr. Trump for recently having rally attendees pledge their support to him, likening it to an action kings and queens demand of their subjects.

“It’s also reflected in his treatment of protesters, where anyone who’s a protester is disloyal and must be punished,” Mr. Cruz told reporters in Illinois ahead of the March 15 primary there.

“The only pledge that I am interested in, the only hand-raising that I’m interested in is on January 20, 2017, when I hope to raise my right hand with my left hand on the Bible and pledge to each and every one of you that I will preserve, protect [and] defend the Constitution and fight for the hard-working taxpayers,” Mr. Cruz said.

“That is a question the voters are asking: At what point do we say ‘enough is enough?’ ” Mr. Cruz said. “If Donald Trump is the nominee, he is a disaster, and the answer is to beat him.”

Ted, a protest within an event that is private and for which protests were made illegal (0bama made it illegal in 2012) is prosecutable and should be prosecuted.

Ted, get your head out of Soro’s butt.

I think Senator Cruz took Sarah Palin’s words to heart - “Drill, baby, drill!” If he went any deeper, he’d be in China - but since he’s going hard left with these foolish remarks, I’d have to think he’s aiming for Canadian soil - LOL!

Of course, I’d would be thrilled to be wrong about Trump. I have zero faith in Trump however. He became a conservative in the last few years, supposedly. I find it amazing that so many “conservatives” have been willing to turn a blind eye to Donald’s past and give him a free pass all the way to the Presidency.

What’s more amazing is the vile insults thrown our way for questioning Trump’s conservative bona-fides.

It’s truly remarkable that Trump supporters have this unwavering faith that Donald is going to “make America great again” just because he says so. How will he do that? Do you really believe he won’t backtrack from his campaign promises (which are what exactly?)?

I don’t know, call me skeptical.

Ted Cruz has done nothing but what he said he would do in 2012 and yet he has been labeled on FR and elsewhere by Trump supporters as all sorts of things from a crazed lunatic to a GOP establishment mole. Call me skeptical on that too.

If I’m wrong either way, of course I would admit it and express sorrow. On the other hand, if Trump turns out to be a total disaster I know there are thousands of supporters who would never admit to having supported him.

“Trump wants to change libel laws so pols can stifle criticism”

Well look at you.

Trump wants to change libel laws so the news media can’t willfully print lies about a politician.

There is a difference between printing lies and printing criticism and your post tells us you know the difference.

The problem is this article proves nothing except that Cruz will still support whoever the nominee ends up being after July.

He won't if it is Trump but he is counting on a brokered convention to award him the nomination, but it won't.

Please go to Trump’s website and read his position papers. There are details there. Taxes and healthcare are both notable. He’s very strong 2A and both of his sons are avid hunters and lifetime members of the NRA.

Go to youtube and look at his speech at the Republican Convention back in ‘88.

He’s been a solid economic conservative for thirty years. He’s been slower to come around on social issues, but that’s pretty normal for today’s American.

Be skeptical, but at least look with clear eyes. There’s a reason why so many of us support him. No. We’re not all blinded radicals who are easily duped. Have respect for your fellow FReepers. We *are* paying attention and we’ve done our homework.

I wonder how he would react if his rallies were being shut down.

When has he had one big enough to warrant the effort?

“He needs to stop taking advice from Beck.”

If he were truly brilliant, he would not be taking advice from Beck.

“I am so disappointed that Ted is trying to blame Trump, and use the actions of the extreme left”

Remember that time when Limbaugh and Levin both had mental breakdowns on their shows accusing Trump of attacking Cruz from the Left?

Ok, I respect the ones who want to talk about the substance of their guy, but the constant “insert insult”-TED, Canadian jokes, saying Cruz is GOPe, etc. is over the top and really pisses us off. We are the same people who Trump needs in the general too. That’s what makes me laugh. You guys want us to support your guy in the general, but you go out of your way to piss us off.

Anyways, I know what most of his positions are, and I’m very skeptical still. On healthcare for example, Trump is a guy who has supported single-payer in the past. Why should I believe we are going to magically get some great healthcare “deal”?

With Cruz, I know what his positions are too, and his positions are as a whole more conservative, IMO.

So given the two choices I have no reason to support Trump over Cruz.

But anyways, I appreciate you trying to have a substantive debate with me.

“When he says stuff like we used to make these guys be carried out, who is he talking about?”

The people trying to disrupt, that’s who. I have seen that happen at school board meetings.

But very involved in the Neocon delusions of grandeur. (See Neocon Phenomenon.)

The Trotsky admirer helped promote a movement of ex-Marxists, which continued to employ the mob control tactics of the more generally recognized intimidaters of dissent. My spelling was a Freudian slip, and you caught it.

I’ll try Levin again after the general election.

I tune about every day to see how long it takes for him to run complete off the tracks, Beck I won't even attempt to listen too until after the General election.

“TPA isn’t the problem. TPP is. Once Cruz read TPP he did NOT support it. I don’t get what the problem is.”

TPA was a bill specifically designed for for passing TPP. At the time TPA was being debated, a representative could only read TPP under top secret protocols. But they could read it. So if Cruz did not go and study TPP, why on earth would he vote for a bill that put it on a fast-track for passage? The fact that it was an Obama initiative should have clued him in, like it did the rest of us who are not supposed to be as nearly as brilliant as he is.

Truth is, of course, he was/is for TPP.
