“Pete Rose is betting on Trump?”

‘Don, I’m betting on you! - Pete Rose’ would have been a hilarious autograph.

We are all flawed human beings.

Good luck with your perfect candidate.

When you find him that is.

Did I see that Franklin Graham said it was time to unite behind Trump?

I have not seen that yet, although I have seen Franklin Graham say some very kind and supportive words regarding Trump, so not sure when (or if) that translates into an endorsement.

I feel quite certain that Franklin Graham is comfortable with Trump.

You miss the point. Say he DID bet on his own team. Say he has an unlucky streak, and he gets, I don’t know, $100,000, $150,000 into his bookie. The bookie says, you know Pete, tell ya what I am going to do... Leave your starter in a batter or two longer than you would have. Make sure ya lose the next game, make it a sure thing, and I will call it even. THAT is the risk.

Rose is loved in the Cincinnati metro area, the largest metro in the state + the Dayton area. The Reds just announced his induction in the Reds Hall of Fame. If I got to choose Rose or Romney to travel with me, I’m picking Charlie Hustle every time. Rose might be a rascal, but Romney is a phony.

What are the odds of this endorsement working out in Trump’s favor?

Many still know and like Peter Rose - and think he got a rotten deal and belongs in the Hall of Fame.

It certainly won't hurt Trump.

I hear what you're saying and you make good sense. But, in every case of civil or illegal action, someone has to prove damages. I've just never heard conclusive proof of him altering a game. I'll also admit that I'm a fan, not an expert.

In the examples you gave there are also endless similar possibilities where players might have someone out of the sport betting for them. OR - a player knows someone he doesn't like has put a large bet on his team, so ...

How would you prove leaving a pitcher in an inning too long because you wanted to rest your bullpen for the next series when you have something riding? Dude you are not going to be able to detect this stuff, baseball is a bunch of decisions that can be plausibly refuted, right? Think about all the inexplicable decisions mangers have made that have become famous because it didn’t work, but could plausibly work.

I’m a fan of Rose too.

Betting on your own team, even only to win, the exact same amount EVERY SINGLE GAME, is like nothing a true gambler would ever do, in my opinion. That wouldn’t get them off. I don’t buy it. There is no engagement there.

LOL! Started to post that in a thread and chickened out!!

Tired of all the ‘bunkum’. :)

Wonder where it started that Pete endorsed him and the ball, who forged his signature. Interesting.

Take care.........pilgrim

From Rose.

Rose reportedly said in November 2015 that the presidential election would come down to a race between Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, according to Fox News’ Daniel Gallo.

“It’s also worth noting that as I walked away, Rose told me the one person he really liked in the race was [Ohio Gov. John Kasich],” the Fox reporter added.”
