LOL!
Pete, I got a presidential pardon waiting for you if you endorse me for president...
There is that....
Did I see that Franklin Graham said it was time to unite behind Trump? Are they going to trash him, too? This is so ugly!
What GREAT? Charlie Bets?
damned straight...
if bambam can sit in the white hut...
rose can go the the hall of fame!
Trump can organize a boycott of baseball until Pete is in the Hall.
Let me be clear, I never lived in Ohio, but, since they banned Pete, my going to 10 games per year has gone to never going to a ball park. MLB has made many fans into EX MLB fans.
A General across the board boycott would let Trump sit down and negotiate Pete Rose getting into the Hall of Fame.
Pete owns so many records, without Pete the Hall is a big silly joke.
Most Americans love athletic skill, hustle and the winning spirit. And Rose embodied it.
Americans also love underdogs...i.e., Rose's perpetual losing battle to be named to the Baseball Hall of Fame. He has little to no chance of getting in, which makes him all the more lovable to sports fans.
Donald Trump knows a sports winner....and Pete Rose knows a political winner!
Play Ball !!!

The Phillies scouted Donald Trump when he was in High School

Interesting
Yep. Currency counterfeiters never really "hurt" anyone either. But counterfeiters are still very destructive. And they go to jail.
The less praise for Rose, the better, IMO.
As A-Rod was serving basically an entire season suspension, David Ortiz won the World Series and Ortiz (”Big Poppy”) was named MVP. Now just put his rookie card next to his cards while playing with the Red Sox and you can tell he used PED’s. Look all over the Internet, many stories about how he tested positive in 2003 but “ it was just a survey done by mlb and the chosen players were promised the results wouldn't be made public”. Which is ridiculous. But Big Poppy sold seats and was generally liked, not so much A-Rod. So mlb creates different standards. Until MLB cleans up its act they have no right to keep Pete Rose out of baseball, in my opinion. And if he only bet on his own team, the only proven point, then he believed in his team and he helped them to win. Who cares?
Was it ever proven that Rose bet on his team to lose and altered a line up or went soft as a player to alter a score?
Pete Rose is a pillar of integrity and honesty, just like Donald Trump. He may have been a great baseball player, but there are reasons he’s not in the Hall of Fame — just as there are reasons the Donald should never be president. Comprendo?
Pete Rose endorsement might not play everywhere but in Cincinnati I’d bet it still means something.
No.
He DID bet on his own team to win... and win they did... that’s cheating don’t you know... when you bet on your own team... and work extra hard to make sure you win...
he COULD have had he wanted to. he was the pivotal player on the REDS roster... for years
I have a hard time imagining a gambler betting the same amount every single night for his own team. There are many places that say he didn’t do that, he supposedly says he did. I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt as far as betting against his team, but not that the amount was uniform for every game played.
What do you do with pitching when you know another team is probably better, do you burn out your bullpen when you have more riding and more to win, or when you know you aren’t going to bet the next series? Also the bookie sure has a sweet gig with him, Rose would be a valuable client and he knows it. Say he bets 500 one night and 5000 the next, as manager or player. What are you going to do with the line? And what is that then worth to you?
Freegards
Like Larry Bird, there was not an ounce of quit in his DNA.
Whenever Pete comes up I immediately have two memories that come up. Both (unfortunately) were with the Phillies instead of the Reds. One was the high pop foul in the playoff that Bob Boone dropped and there was Pete to catch it and make the play before it hit the ground.
The other was also in the playoffs (not on video) when Rose was at bat with two down and the tying run on base. Batting left handed, in the rain, he got to a full count and fouled off six pitches in a row before lining it over third and scoring two runs to win the game.
He was special.
How archangelic of you.
Spelling, not so much.
