Cruz beat Trump by 17 points in Texas - what makes you think he will have any problem getting re-elected, even if Trump campaigns against him?

Most candidates win their home states. But it wasn't a strong victory:

“The bottom line is that Trump can’t unify the GOP.”

personally, I don’t want to set the GOP “unified”, I want to see it completely blown up as it’s currently structured and operates.

Why do the Trump cultists think that offering a Supreme Court seat to "the biggest liar I've ever seen" is an acceptable position for Trump? Have you abandoned principle entirely? Because I sure don't see any signs of it with either Trump or his cultists.

Here is the thing: you may have a point. And you may think that making your point in writing will convince a Trump supporter of your point. But you apparently follow the GOP's method of public relations by first insulting the Trump supporter, then stating your point, then following up with the same nakedly contemptuous insult again. This is but one small illustration of why conservative purists lose debates and lose elections.

They don’t want to win.. They won last time and did nothing for the people who voted for them.

They might have to get out of their cozy niches.
Old senile POS have been there too long.

If I was one of those kind of people who dream of being in congress I would announce as an independent right now and endorse Trump at the same time. And also remind the tea party congress folks how they got there.

I’d love to see every gopE primaried.

I’m really starting to believe that they do not want to be anywhere near the white house because something big is about to go down.

Reince Priebus should have been fired after Romney lost.

He wasn't chairman of the party then. Michael Steele was.

“Tonight if Cruz attacks Trump using Romney talking points, I’m done with Cruz.”

You bring up the point I’ve been wondering about: will Cruz and/or Rubio attack Trump by spring-boarding off of GOPe stalking-horse two-time loser Mitt Romney? If they do, then it puts them firmly in the club of the GOPe, insider, rich-boy, plutocrat, oligarch, string-puller, donor class GOP aristocracy: the very powers-that-be that foist the McCains,Romneys and Rubios on the rank-and-file working class GOP voters to whom they have complete disdain for.

Heck, this might even be enough for me to force myself to watch the debates tonight!

(BTW, my gut feeling is that at least one, and maybe both, will do exactly that. They’ve run out of their own attack positions, not to mention that Romney threw every vile lie and piece of dirt that the entire GOPe cold scrape up, and Romney’s attack has essentially officially sanctioned Cruz and Rubio to use any and all underhanded tactics conceivable against Trump.)

Cruz has better favorables than Trump and does better against Hillary than Trump in all polls. You can have an opinion that Trump is more likable than Cruz, but the actual, factual surveys we have say otherwise.

This claim is useless without citations.

Yes, we’re screwed... I give it 95% chance Hillary wins it given recent developments.

That's because you're surrounded by left-coasters out there. Many in the east, middle and south see it differently. Don't give up.

Agreed Jim...but the GOPe is going to fail.

The GOPe attack through Romney today is only going to stoke the flames that are fueling Trump’s campaign all the higher.

They do not get it...and they are bumbling along proving it every time they try something like this.

That’s because if Trump wins the republicans loose, plain and simple. If Hillary wins the republicans win by keeping their money supply coming in from the lobbyists.

You are so right — if the Republicans have to choose between Trump and Clinton — they take Clinton. They know where she gets her money and how she does it. They can deal with her. With all her connections on Wall Street it’s a no brainer. Trump is his own man and will be of little use to them in that department — he will be more free and independent to govern (with the advise and consent of the congress), as he sees fit without a pay back for a favor.

[The GOP is doing its damnedest to lose this election]

They know the economic time-bomb is going to blow up again; yes even worse than 2008.

Still, I’d prefer a successful businessman in the White House instead of Benghazi Bathroom Email Server Hillary or Comrade Lunatic Bernie.

This is it, America. This is the last round which decides just how this thing is going to go down.
