Morning Joe: Kick NYT Off Trump Campaign Till OTR Breach Explained
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 03/01/2016 5:50:44 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Hopefully they'll wait till the plane lands . . . New York Times reporters should be thrown off the Trump plane. That's what Steve Schmidt and Joe Scarborough said on today's Morning Joe. Via a Gail Collins column in the Times and in conversations with BuzzFeed EIC Ben Smith, portions of Donald Trump's ostensibly off-the-record interview with the Times' editorial board in January were leaked.

Said Schmidt: "if I was running the Donald Trump campaign, every New York Times reporter on that plane would be off of it until and unless they clarify the attributional policies of the newspaper." Seconded Scarborough: "every single New York Times reporter should be kicked off the plane, should not be given press access--anything--until the editor of the New York Times editor explains to the candidate and explains to the readers exactly what happened here."

"Both have shown themselves to be globalist, lying pukes to the left of Hillary"

Just to be clear. So what you're saying is that if Trump were not running, you would vote for Hillary before you vote for Cruz or Rubio?

Is Trump letting the reporters ride on his plane?

Immigration, but that is no surprise to anyone who has been listening for longer than the last 6 months.

Cruz bellyached all day Monday about the off-the-record audio that Trump should fess up to; a la Dingy Harry’s “Romney has not paid ANY taxes for ten years!”

My opinion of Cruz, my second choice, is falling rapidly.

There is none. You are right. Make them buy their own plane ticket.

But Trump seems to prefer coverage rather than no coverage, so he lets them tag along.

Providing this access on AF1 is correspondingly giving the Media a sense that they are actually PART of the governing clique.

Throw them out.

It has almost gotten to the point where Trump COULD shoot somebody in Times Square, and I’d still vote for him. If the person he shot was a NYT scumbag reporter, I’d send his campaign $100 as a Bounty, like they have on some predator animals.

As someone who was victimized by the New York Times (a freelance ‘reporter’) two years ago, I can tell you that they have no morality, no ethics and ruin lives as a cruel sport.

You make a good point.

It does give them a sense of entitlement, AND it gives them power, AND it puts them in the center of decision making where they really have no place.

"Properly translated from the Idiots Guide to business, it means “I won’t tell you my fixed positions and I don’t care about yours”."

Of course, it is the American people who are on the other side of this "negotiation".

Absolutely not. I want to know the unvarnished truth of every candidate - don’t you?

I don’t like to be lied to - apparently you’ve become so invested in Trump that as he said “he could shoot a man down 5th Avenue and not loose his supporters”.

Right? (now don’t commit the Cardinal sin and lie to yourself!)

Everything.

Of course, we alreay know that:”in October that during an interview with Larry King, Trump admitted that his presidential immigration policy would be “something with heart.” When asked why he wasn’t showing that more compassionate side on the campaign trail, he was pretty clear:

Maybe I wouldn’t be doing as well in the polls.”

How many Trump supporters would care? None. None of his policy changes or background has bothered hem yet. He is never going to do what he campaigned on. I still don’t think he will get the nomination and sure he will never win if he does.

He said everything was negotiable except the wall. The only thing he said about that, that I read, was that the wall might be two feet shorter. The entire thing is overblown by the media against Trump. He has never been anti-immigration the way the media likes to play him. He is for LEGAL immigration where immigrants are documented and backgrounds are checked. He wants the legal process to be controlled and the law enforced. It’s the illegals sneaking in that he has always been against.

There’s always a rationale, isn’t there.

I’ve planned to vote for Mr. Trump almost from the beginning.

(I had high hopes for Sen. Cruz but he just doesn’t have the stones.)

At this point I don’t know what Mr. Trump believes in, other than Mr. Trump. But we are going to get him as our nominee unless the GOP blows everything up, which seems increasingly likely.

I’ll still vote for Trump, because I hate the media and the GOP. But I don’t think any of us has much of an idea what kind of president he will be.

You sound like Karl Rove. He hasn’t gotten anything right since Trump announced.

Since he doesn’t have a political record we are just going on his word. It’s a leap of faith. :-) But, we know what the others stand for and what they have done compared to what they say they will do. I also hate the media and GOP and Trump seems to be fighting them so he’s at the top of my list. I voted for him this morning and hope I did the right thing.

One thing that is encouraging to me is the degree that the Mexican president’s both hate Trump. They are scared to death of him because they are afraid that he will stop the gravy train. I don’t hear them ranting against Cruz or Rubio that way so it makes me feel like maybe Trump will do what he says.

I don’t fear some negotiation in politics and I don’t 100% agree with any of them. I have to follow the person that I have the most issues in common with, especially the important ones. If you have a person that refuses to negotiate you have a dictator.
