Former state senator Dr. Kelli Ward brought her insurgent crusade to unseat fellow Republican U.S. Senator John McCain to Payson this week, with a wide-ranging attack on McCain. She spent hours of patiently answering questions posed by members of the Payson Tea Party.
Ward blasted Sen. McCain as a career politician with no new ideas, dedicated to his own power and privilege, unwilling to protect the border and out of touch with the will of the people.

If she manages to defeat the well-funded McCain in the Republican primary, she will face Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, who is leaving her Flagstaff-based First Congressional District seat to make the run for U.S. Senate.
...
Sen. Ward, who announced months ago, is Tea Party friendly candidate on the issues gaining support every day -- pushing McCain in the polls. Until now Kirkpatrick, a liberal republican, has shown no interest publicly in higher office but her late-entry may will split the vote in the primary against McCain.
Kirkpatrick, who was my Az Rep before re-districting, once called a town hall meeting but when she arrived she saw a lot of voters, some holding signs, who were upset with her so she never even got our of her car and drove off. She has hung up on my wife in the middle of a polite discussion about Obamacare that she was pushing. It goes on.
