Two months and two billion box office dollars later, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has reaped huge returns for Disney with its most progressive episode yet. Now that Daisy Ridley’s Rey and John Boyega’s Finn have given the Star Wars franchise its first female Jedi and black lead, respectively, does its fearless director J.J. Abrams see a future for a gay character in the galaxy?
“Of course!” Abrams said Thursday night at his Bad Robot HQ, where he hosted the US-Ireland Alliance’s annual Oscar Wilde Awards ahead of Sunday’s Oscars, where The Force Awakens is nominated in five categories. “When I talk about inclusivity it’s not excluding gay characters. It’s about inclusivity. So of course.”

Abrams doesn’t own Star Wars and Disney cannot afford the backlash. The Prequels were one big politically correct mess that nearly destroyed the entire franchise. If they go PC again, SW is finished.
Some video games have homosexual characters.
Because, when you think about it, Darth Vader really did go both ways...
yea but the industry as a whole still has the popular games mainly feature straight masculine males as the leaders (GTA, Witcher, Bloodborne, Fallout, Clancy games, etc.)
The gay characters will fly X-Schwing fighters.

I disagree that homosexuality is immoral, because the measure of hetero/homo, I see is whether a guy’s member gets hard to women (straight) or gay (men). A man’s member isn’t controllable to get hard as a finger is to move; it cannot just be done at will. This is my view of homosexuality, and so if a person is gay, its innate. (ditto girls but with them getting wet and clitoris’ getting hard)
But unlike the liberals, I see it as a disadvantage in which the gay are yes, unlucky. Liberals seek to punish the lucky. I don’t, nor do I advocate those who do. And we don’t need to parade/promote the unlucky around in every show, movie, etc.
You’d think that so far in the future, there would be a treatment or a cure for homosexuality.
not for people who have exited the womb, tho hopefully they can do something like amniocentesis for homosexuality. Of course, since SJW are trying to take over medicine, it will probably be suppressed.
Some things should be in a galaxy far, far, away enough to get away from the homolobby.
Really? I wish the handicap I have to deal with was a choice. I wish I could suppress it and live life without it. I certainly would.
Remember when the argument was “the government should not be peeping into peoples bedrooms” and “it is nobody’s business what someone does in the privacy of their own home..” etc.?
OK I meant being gay is like a serious birth defect, not just any handicap.
Also, the gay characters that are in games are not tokens (see Ballad of Gay Tony, a great game) like liberals wanna make them in culture. And even then, when its done, its not done in a PC way.
I still agree with that. But my complaint is when the liberals try to stuff culture with these “oppressed groups” so as to shame the majority groups (white, straight) or males and the “evil” traditional masculinity into thinking they owe the gays, the non-whites, etc. something.
JJ brings JCPenney strategy to Star Wars- it’s a shame, I like JJ & I like Star Wars.
It’s just going to wind up a shark jumping moment for both.
Why not? They are in every other thing we watch. Becomes a game ... betting on how soon the queer will show up in any movie or TV program.
