Go do some research on past presidential campaigns and you will find some really ugly stuff...
1844, Democrats backing James K. Polk claim that Henry Clay had sex with whores and, furthermore, broke all 10 of the commandments; in lieu of evidence, they declare simply that the details are âtoo disgusting to appear in public print.â
1828, Jackson supporters accuse Adams of having premarital sex with his wife and being a pimp, claiming he arranged an American hooker for Czar Alexander I.
1800 Federalists claim Republican candidate Thomas Jefferson is dead.
Karl Rove-engineered robo-calls help Bush win the 2000 Republican nomination by asking primary voters if they would be âmore likely or less likely to vote for John McCain if you knew that he fathered an illegitimate black child?â McCain speculates that âthere is a special place in hell for people like those.â You know what happened after that.
The 1828 race, Adams supporters attack Jacksonâs family, calling his dead mother âa common prostitute, brought to this country by the British soldiers,â after whose service she âmarried a MULATTO MAN, with whom she had several children of which number General JACKSON IS ONE!!!â Jacksonâs wife, who was previously married and (accidentally) not completely divorced prior to her second marriage, they call a âconvicted adulteress.â When she dies within days of Jacksonâs victory, he blames Adamsâ vicious campaign practices, exclaiming at her funeral, âMay God Almighty forgive her murderers as I know she forgave them. I never can.â
Unfortunately, politics is not a hobby, but something that affects everyone. And no, I don’t believe that politics is a morality-free or character-free zone. Perhaps if I believed that, I would be a Hillary supporter. Ronald Reagan had strong principled conservative beliefs, won two presidential elections, and did not stoop to boorish gutter activity.
>>Just stop with your narrow view of who is and who isnât a conservative. If we donât agree with you or your candidate, then we arenât conservative? Get over your puritanical self.
I enjoyed reading your comment.
Why does Trump feel the need to go down in the gutter here? Why not attack Cruz’s policies instead of engaging in personal attacks? At some point, if he is the nominee, he is going to have to unite the party. This isn’t helping.
Ronald Reagan was a good president. However, you need to dig a little deeper into his life. He wasn’t as pure as the myth.
Wow. That’s all you’ve got? Two LOLs I’m two pseudo sentences. I’m the “type” that doesn’t care for loser trolls like yourself making this forum look like a bunch of children, noob. Yawn.
It’s Trump supporters who seem to be narrow minded in their slamming anyone who actually holds conservative principles on anything other than immigration and who may actually believe that a huckster like Trump may not actually mean what he says when talks about immigration, since a couple years back he said the exact opposite. And why does broadening the base, if that is what Trump is trying to do, mean that the actual conservative base is to be trashed and dumped on. In fact, that is what the Republican establishment does. Trump is the stealth establishment candidate. And if he’s the nominee, he is going to have to unite the party. How is he going to do that with his boorish, childish insults and slash and burn tactics?
When that happened and McCain ultimately supported GW and all was made good for the fall campaign, I said then that I would support McCain in 2008 if he ran. I probably shouldn't have done that, but that is the truth.
Luckily for us, we have the same dynamic on the Democrat side this time, where Hillary was bombed out of her chance in 2008, made good with it for the fall campaign, and "earned" the slot for 2016. Looks like the Dems are going to make the same mistake I made! lol
>>Trump wants a crack at it before the country is passed on down or made worse by those who want to hand the country down in a different form, those being composed ultimately of the protest side of the Vietnam war.
I believe Trump is sincere, he doesn’t need this. He feels called to this because he truly believes he can, as the leader and President of the US, “Make America Great Again, Even Better Than Ever”. For me, he connects and I think it is sincere.
Spoken from your heart, a very thoughtful and truthful post.
Thank you.
Of course you Trump supporters are just gleeful about dumping on principled conservatives. Love the way you guys play right into the Left’s hands by destroying conservative unity against the real enemies, the Obamas, Hillaries and Bernies of this world.
A proven constitutional conservative is “sick”. When Mr. Trump attacks Ted Cruz with this nonsense, he’s attacking me and millions of other life-long right-minded conservatives. Knock it off.
By the way, thank you for the Puritan compliment. I am very proud of my Puritan ancestors and their contribution to the founding of this great nation. I love being called a Puritan.
Oh yeah, we’re anti-Christian all right. Because as we all know, Cruz shows us the Face of God. And we know that God is on Cruz’s side because he killed Scalia to get Cruz into office.
Personally, I’m utterly infuriated that the Christian faith is being dragged through the mud like this by the Cruz campaign.
What policies?
The only policy that Cruz has is, “I’m the only conservative in the race, and I’m a super-duper Christian too. Vote for me.”
Oh wait, I tell a lie. He also has all the other policies that he poached from the Trump campaign.
I have no interest in getting you banned.
I hope not he will take the last chance of getting q conservative elected with him if he gets the nomination
tl;dr. Here’s the Cliff Notes version.
NO U!
I don't think you are going to like my answer, but I feel it is the truth. He is doing this because it is working, and anything that gets him the nomination "helps". He feels no pressure from the results to change his tactics.
Trump has not had a "no new taxes" moment yet, he has not had to do anything like that since "the pledge" which was required to admit him to the firing squad. Remember that?
Oh, I heard Erick Erickson just last night flushing that down the commode last night. Yeah, he is out if Trump is the nominee. I still remember his segments about this issue, what a you know what. He can go away. And also that Cunningham guy from Red State too yesterday.
I hope the RNC is paying attention and don't give these guys credentials to the convention if Trump is the nominee. We don't need them sitting on the sidelines talking about how they are never going to vote for Trump. Leave it out, it is part of what is needed now. We don't need our marching orders from these guys, we have minds of our own.
You see, Trump is also correct about a lot of this. If he had played their game, he would have had to bow out apologetically long ago.
I don't think there will be changes until it quits working, or the composition of the race is changed more. I mean, you can just see Trump's team rubbing their hands and saying, "Everything is proceeding as we have forseen"! Of course, not with the evil intent of the Dark Sith! Except on those who oppose him of course. lol They are like this.

Conservative does not equal competent.
I used the word casually. I forgot how hyper careful one needs to be with word choices around Cruz supporters. Everything a Trump supporter says can and WILL be used against them. It gets old fast.
Just to be clear. I would never seek out your posts for any reason. I’ve read many of your posts, but not a single one by design. They just happen to crop up on threads I’m otherwise interested in.
