He has broken with many Republicans on taxing the rich, threatening trade wars and keeping Planned Parenthood alive. On Friday, Donald J. Trump faced criticism for an even bolder act of conservative heresy: embracing the core tenet of the Affordable Care Act.
Mr. Trump has to date offered only bits and pieces of his health agenda, generally presenting a vow to repeal "Obamacare" and replace it with "something great."
In a town-hall meeting hosted by CNN on Thursday night, he shared some more expansive views on the subject, and unlike most Republicans he did not call for removing the individual mandate that requires Americans to have health insurance.
Asked how people with pre-existing medical conditions would purchase insurance if the health law and the mandate were eliminated, Mr. Trump said, "I like the mandate."
"So here's where I'm a little bit different," he continued. "I don't want people dying on the streets."
Less than 24 hours later, Mr. Trump backed away from his remarks, proclaiming himself to be the fiercest opponent of the health law. It was the latest example of a candidate who has been impervious to inconsistencies again emerging unscathed from a misstep that would probably be damaging to anyone else....

“Who are you to judge?”
Oh I don’t mind them at all.
What is so stupid is to keep cramming the square peg that is Trump into a round hole, declaring that it doesn’t fit, and then making kindergarten noises.
NBF... Hope the SC conservative crowd is AWARE of Trump’s anti CBF stance.
I was hoping for someone who might be at least a little more conservative than Bill Clinton.
Well he did try last Tuesday when he made the biggest challenge to Roe v Wade that has ever been heard from the lips of a serious politician, but everybody just hooted.
So the trumpy truck has a set of water cooled disc brakes and a rapidly engaged reverse gear!!!! I think he flat spotted his tires.
Well, its too bad he's not a serious politician.
Kindergarten noises again?
See what I mean?
He’s the New Agenda, folks. He promised it, everybody hooted. Well now we’re seeing it.
It COULD be more conservative-friendly, but laughing your rear off while the left doesn’t, means you just wasted that much more time that could have been spent in discussions with Donald.
Yeah I know, I hear your kindergarten noises.
I’m not at all certain about what Trump will do about the SCOTUS, I am certain that the rest have no intention of doing anything other than continuing to import a third world population.
A bit off topic. On March 6 2011 Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio joined to assist Rand Paul in his 13 hour filibuster challenging Obama’s power to use drone to kill American citizens without trial. It was IMO the Tea Party’s finest our. On the same day, Donald Trump sent eleven has beens and never wases out to sell pizza on The Apprentice. Why are we even talking about Trump as POTUS? Who will be next ? Kim Kardashian? I’m sure we could find some potential supporters. Flame away!!!
If Trump is so great on immigration he wouldn’t have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars over the past 20 years to pro-amnesty liberals like Hillary, Schumer, Weiner, Reid, and Pelosi. The excuse that he made those donations to help his business doesn’t make sense. Plenty of conservative businessmen have done very well without ever giving money to help elect such scum. Trump is just telling you what you want to hear to make it through the primary. When/if he gets the nomination his inner liberal will be unleashed.
I thought George Washington fought a war to give me the right to judge, he called it a "vote."
For the doubters, he wants Thomases.
We could do worse. That is a business friendly position to take as well as one that could allow backing out (under different premises, to be sure) of Roe v. Wade.
Well fine, and do so, but remember that FR is NOT the world. Each time it thinks it is the world, the actual world teaches it a lesson that it is not.
I understand that Trump intends to do something about Immigration. I’m just pointing out that a liberally tilted supreme court can rule all of his intentions unconstitutional. We had all better be absolutely sure what Trump intends to do about the SCOTUS. I think we all know for certain that the current liberals on the court will happily take up challenges to anything Trump does in regard to the border, especially if they are emboldened by the addition of another liberal justice.
You might be right. Trump might build the wall, he might not; the others most certainly will not. He’s a chance. Otherwise, it’s all over, unless the “natural conservative” blacks and hispanics suddenly start voting for limited government. I see that as less likely than Trump building a wall.
Yeah! The square peg Trump does not fit so well into that round hole does he?
And he never pretended to. Has anyone noticed, of course, that his contributions to the Dems has fallen to a nice round zero?
