Donald Trump Is No Revolutionary, HeÂ’'s Just a Democrat
National Review ^ | February 15, 2016 | David French

Saturday’s GOP debate finally clarified the Donald Trump phenomenon. After months of dominating the polls and millions of words of analysis, the grueling slog of the primary race is finally bringing the facts into sharp relief. Donald Trump isn’t a revolutionary. He’s not a conservative. He’s not even a populist. He’s a Democrat.

In the Greenville, S.C., debate, Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz both got under Trump’s skin, and he cracked. He shouted his true feelings, and they were ugly to see. Regarding the Iraq War, Trump made it quite plain that he believes the fever-swamp “Bush lied, people died” narrative of the radical Left. The transcript could not be more clear.

Trump: You do whatever you want. You call it whatever you want. I wanna tell you. They lied.

John Dickerson: Okay.

Trump: They said there were weapons of mass destruction. There were none. And they knew there were none. There were no weapons of mass destruction.

Not only is Trump ignorant of the thousands of chemical weapons found in Iraq, he’s spouting talking points you likely won’t even hear from Hillary Clinton. But he wasn’t done. Not by a long shot.

Regarding the horror of 9/11, only a committed leftist would pin the undeniable failure of America’s security apparatus on George Bush and George Bush only, but that’s what Trump did. Again, the transcript is clear:

Trump: How did he keep us safe when the World Trade Center . . . The World — I lost hundreds of friends. The World Trade Center came down . . . during the reign. He kept us safe? That’s not safe. That is not safe.

There is no mention of the failures of two successive administrations, including the Clinton administration’s wholly inadequate response to the Africa embassy bombings

Stands on the dead of 9-11? Wow! He said if you listened that 9-11 happened on Bush watch. Do you deny that? I believe Jamie Gorelick under Bill Clinton caused the initial inability to share info. But had Bush gone in honestly instead of praising Clinton or allowing his crap to go uncorrected we might have seen it coming. Bush didn't cause 9-11 but he did let Clinton's disaster ours policies continue.

Don’t care. Trump is the punishment for the Brooks Brothers donor and cocktail class that installed the Usurper into office. The GOP is a criminal organization that needs to be destroyed.

Another day, another attack against Trump.

I am not blind to all of Trumps failures, or lack of conservative purity, or that he may have said one thing in the past and something different today, or even that he supports some things today that I do not agree with.

I will admit that Trump is not a conservative, he in fact may at one time been a Democrat (like I was when I first started voting).

No, none of that matters for the simple reason if it was not for Trump a lot of issues I do care about would not be out there, being discussed and debated.

Cruz may in fact be the perfect conservative candidate if it was not for two things, the mushy middle will not vote for the perfect conservative candidate but more important, he has no voice.

By that I mean he is not using his position to speak for the vast number of Americans who feel they have been silenced.

Trump has shown if you are not afraid of being called names, and being disliked by the elite, that you can in fact touch the “third rail” of politics and survive.

Trump is going to win. Sanders is too far left for most, and Hillary will not win the nomination and the Democrats will bring a ringer in. Who I don’t know, but she will be replaced (most likely for “health” reasons).

The 30% confirmed die hard Democrats will support anyone with a D after their name, but the mushy middle will go with Trump, and holding their nose, the 30% die hard Republicans will also vote for him.

If Trump keeps just one promise, take control of our borders (build the fence, deporting illegals, and restricting who is allowed in), then I will be happy.

On a side note, Cruz may very well be constitutionally eligible to be President, but if he gets the nomination the Democrats will attack him on this point during the entire race and he will lose.

In all this Freeper madness over Donald Trump, nothing has shocked and dismayed me as much as your over-the-top support of Trump. I have your book. It doesn't seem possible that the person who wrote Patriot's History of the United States could fall for his act. Very disappointing. He will not win the nomination, and you will not be able to regain the respect you once had from many of us here.

I agree with you. I have lost all respect for several Freepers that I used to admire. It is sad but it is what it is.

A Man of his word, Ole Donnie. Yes sir. He hates watching all those jobs going south. Well, expect for the work he wants done. Almost like hiring Illegal Polish Workers for his construction projects no?

...is the only one who will build the wall.

Why do you always leave out the details about Trump's wall? He said it's going to have a big beautiful door in it so Trump can welcome people with his big, big heart.

You are right. I think he is the worst candidate in the history of this country from either side of the aisle. Nothing a good arse whuppin couldn’t take care of.

I really think it is because he was born not with a silver spoon in his mouth but a gold one. Never had anything but the best, always got what he wanted, had the finest schools at his quest, all the money he wanted and probably never had any really close friends, and probably never had a fight other than with words or courts.

Money is the way he keeps score in his professional as well as personal life, it is the only thing to him, the only thing he cares about. Just look at his image. He is so concerned he combs his hair in the most ridiculous fashion, has to have his name on everything he owns, has to have everything bigger than anybody else and talks down to everybody, especially when he does not get his way.

I think he must have an inner inferiority complex because he is goofy looking, has a small mouth, balding, shorty stubby fingers, has a azz as big as the Wookie has, has to have the trophy wives of all trophy wives. (is it three or four now?)

God help this country if he is elected.

They can blast Trump all they want, but he is the only one that has the cajones to call out these political whores for what they are. The Bushs and the Rubios are nothing more than frauds. GO TRUMP!!

He will also hand them Free "Government Paid" Health Care, because Donnie says we have to. He doesn't want people sick in the streets.

Don't forget the free phones, gots to have a free phone to stay in contact with the DNC and Welfare office.

Then there is Section 8 Housing, all these new arrivals have to live someplace. Can't have them sleeping in the streets.

I like your steely argument, alloysteel!

If Trump is a Democrat, then he's an old school Democrat like we had in JFK, a guy who lowered corporate income taxes and built a strong military.

Unfortunately, tens of millions of corrupt citizens have forgotten his immortal words:

Yes, we are certainly at the tipping point when Ben Franklin's prediction is tested: that our Constitutional government would ultimately fail (see my tagline.)

This election we need to keep our eye on one overarching priority: save the country.

Let's work together to ensure good Ben's dire prophecy doesn't come true.

Perfect opportunity to point a finger at Clinton, and he chose not to. And this is the guy we think is going to kneecap Hillary? Think again!

“Meanwhile Santo Cruz wife works for Goldman Sachs making him a puppet for them.”

Don’t you think it’s kind of pathetic that you can’t even attack the candidate himself, you have to go after his wife?

I’m guessing NRO had a scheduling meeting.

“Ok folks, who’s got the Satuday hit piece. Now remember I need a good one so it makes noise for the Sunday talk shows.”

“Alright, now who has Sunday?”

“Monday? Check.”

“Keep going, fill in the roster.”

“Oh, Wednesday is a prime slot, who’s got a good idea for something right before the SC vote?”
