Trump Change: 74% of GOP Voters Think Trump Likely Nominee
Rasmussen Reports ^ | Feb. 12, 2012 | Rasmussen Reports

Posted on 02/12/2016 3:03:17 PM PST by SatinDoll

What a difference a primary makes. After a one-week drop following Donald Trump’s second-place finish in the Iowa caucus, expectations that the New York businessman will be the Republican presidential nominee have jumped back to their highest levels.

Rasmussen Reports’ latest Trump Change survey, the first since Trump’s big win in the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday, finds that 74% of Likely Republican Voters again feel he is likely to be the GOP nominee. This includes 40% who say it’s Very Likely, tying the high first reached three weeks ago.

Last week, 61% of Republicans still believed Trump was the likely nominee, but that was down from a high of 74% the week before.

Twenty-one percent (21%) of GOP voters say Trump is not likely to win the nomination, but that includes only six percent (6%) who feel it’s Not At All Likely. Those findings were up to 36% and 14% respectively a week ago. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

When Trump announced his candidacy in mid-June of last year, however, just 27% of Republicans – and 23% of all voters – said he was likely to end up as the 2016 GOP nominee.

Among all likely voters, 60% now think Trump is likely to be the Republican standard-bearer. That’s up from 52% in the previous survey but still short of the high of 63% reached two weeks ago. Thirty-three percent (33%) believe Trump will not be the nominee. These findings include 26% who say it is Very Likely that he will win the nomination and 12% who say it’s Not At All Likely.

If we are going in that direction look what happened when we voted in an evangelical like Carter. He was a complete disaster. You can worship God but still be a useless twit.

But, he’s not conservative.

We already have a whole Congress full of conservatives.

I stand in the assurance of God and in His merit, not mine.

I ought to be in hell dancing with the devil if my merit was involved. You scarcely stand to be bringing your merit up, let alone Donald’s.

I speak of what God has made Donald a vessel of.

Max, you're assuming this Sam-I-Am is some kind of logic whiz.

I'm not trying to convince him. When foolish arguments are made I occasionally refute them.

Pointless, but fun.

Unfortunately, Trump is a fraud.

All I want from Trump is to change the entire outlook of America without our Country. We have become an embarrassment. We apologize for being American. No more and if Trump does that.....I am thrilled. If he kicks ISIS’s a$$ I am even more thrilled and if he builds the wall, he may end up being the best President in America’s history.

Quin, Bush II was at 90% approval rating when Clinton announced he was running.

You are absolutely correct. Historical polling shows that Trump is the most likely candidate to win the nomination. Cruz lags behind and then perhaps Rubio as a long shot. Cruz has some major hurdles in his path even if he becomes a threat to Trump. Right now, is he not. If things remain consistent, Trump is the inevitable nominee.

Now factor in GOPe dirty tricks? I think he still wins. People simply do not trust the establishment - they are so despised that Trump could eat a baby on stage and still win the Evangelical vote. Perhaps I should not give him any ideas. /s

I don’t doubt that Trump would be a kick-ass President. Yes he would daisy-cut enemies and that part of Trump is great.

My concern is how he might define “enemy”. With Trump everything seems so personal.

What happens when I, or you, disagree with him? What happens if you cross him? He displays a vindictive spirit that terrifies me. What happens when he changes his mind again and decides YOU are the enemy?

You think Obama was bad weaponizing the IRS? I can see Trump weaponizing the powers of government. Nothing seems off limits to him.

You’re right—we’ve watched everybody eat Trump alive so far. Oh wait. Maybe not.

Possibly all the people who tried and failed so spectacularly would look a lot more like food than Trump does...

The reason 74% of the GOP voters say that is because the polls show that Trump is maintaining and increasing his support as he goes along. The GOP base is starting to coalesce around Trump as the best bet to win the general election and be an agent of change in the Whitehouse.
